Grimmy's been doing science. Sort of.
Two hours of prosthetics, a questionable fake accent and a beard saw Olly Actual Murs transformed into 'Frankie' the busker. Grimmy then sent him out to Covent Garden to see how much money Frankie could make... busking with his own songs!

Buskers sing in hopes of making money, being appreciated, being noticed and for the love of their music. I think you did well to have received from people who were in a hurry to get somewhere else but paused long enough to listen, enjoy and appreciate your voice. A talent show is different because people are three to listen and are expecting a degree of talent, so some pressure but when you MAKE IT people expect you to be the best ALL of the time so much harder, much more pressure, much more work and much bigger expectations. I love Olle Murs but truly appreciate all the buskers that make our sometimes boring day so delightful and entertaining. I wish there were more of them. this from a boring grandma from Australia that loves ALL music but can’t sing a note so thankyou to Olle, thankyou for this upload and thankyou to all of the buskers out there, keep it up. 🥰

as a busker myself one thing i will say is you have good and bad days generally i will make between 15 and 30 quid a day sometimes i have made up to 70 quid in 4 hours and i have made a 5 after an entire day but I wouldn't give it up for the world. I busk because I enjoy entertaining people the money is just a way of keeping score ;)

He got people dancing more than once. That’s a lot more than many buskers get. Something that people don’t take into consideration when doing these experiments is that buskers are there when passersby are already in the middle of doing something else; something that is not listening to a concert. Many times those passersby already are short on time because they have to get to work or have to get an errand done or are meeting someone, etc. When people go to a concert they have already carved out the time in their schedule for listening to music. When I was younger and paid by the hour, there had been times I wanted to stop to listen to someone playing guitar or singing but I couldn’t afford to be late as it would have been taken out of my already meager pay check. Didn’t mean the person wasn’t talented and didn’t mean that I didn’t like what I heard. I just hadn’t budgeted the extra time for them on my lunch break (I would try to drop a bit of change in the “hat” if I could do it quickly though).

...weel , here's what I think. This guy has a good set of lungs, a real singing voice and lots of guts. If he would be lacking one of those three things he could nevere ever have done that kind of stunt - 'cause when you're singing on the pavement like this there's no echo, no tricks and gimnicks that can anhance your natural taent. So kudos to him.

Covent Garden was a (deliberately) poor choice of venue for this idea. On the other end of the plaza, there are dozens of street entertainers, and it's tourist central. Many of the people walking past will have no idea what an Olly Murs song sounds like, never mind what he looks like. Cool idea, though, would like to see them try this will more artists.

This could have two statements. Either it should show how frustrating some buskers have it, as even if they actually can perform well very few people will pay attention ooor that the only reason why people like poor Olly's music and shows are because he's olly murs and an international pop sesnation - whereas if someone else played the same songs that person wouldn't be recognized as much. ^^
