Chloe Kim just won a gold medal in the Olympics and we're talking about Alexa vs Siri! You spent this much money on being there to get this interview and you ask questions that I could google? If you watched the Olympic qualifying and follow the sport, you already know she's a Korean American. At this point she's been asked about it so many times. "I don't know, I don't have much to say about that, but yea." Can we focus on how much of an amazing athlete she is? The entire reason for being there.

Why was every question an attempt to destroy her future? Not one question about how she was enjoying the Olympics or what she's taking away from her Olympic experience.

[Deleted] Doubtful, just about everyone from Korea is named Kim. It's more common than Smith or Jones in the US although maybe not as common as Nguyen in Vietnam.

Eh, a lot of celebrities and athletes (especially those with sponsorships and such) have publicists or whoever that may partially or fully manage their social media accounts.
@Daaaanielle

Tons of people in a position like her have a person on their pay roll just to update their accounts. People like Zac Efron and Selena Gomez do. Also, she is 17 and has a few million in sponsorships so I'm actually pretty shocked they let her use those accounts like that. She is really young and can be seen as a risk when there are millions at stake. Execs are paranoid like that.

Hope all African Americans are listening, she got her mothers work ethics. Dream big and honor Dr King,s dreams. No one born in the US should have any excuse for not moving ahead. Stop listening to Al Sharpton and dream big because the sky should be the limit. We Africans take care of dozens of family members back home and still live the American dream,why not you?

Dumb question with the juvenile word "amazing" from Carl. And these Olympic athletes tend to be airheads looking to cash in on sponsorships. Wonder what Chloe knows, say, about the Federalist Papers?

Its interesting she calls herself "korean american" My mother moved from france to the US in her 20s, but i would never called myself "french american", im a full red blooded american. I also have a friend whos parents are from lebanon, but he will never refer to himself as "lebanese american"

Matthew Kim Never said she was racist. And she has every right to call herself that. I was just making an observation and questioning why some feel the need to do that while others dont. What compels her to identify that way

Man, people just want to complain about everything. Even if she did refer to herself as American, there will be another person complaining she isn't actually American but Korean-American. Get a job rat

@jjoo2216 6 жыл бұрын
I don't really know. It's just thing. I'm Korean-american and I tend to say I'm Korean or American, but Korean-Americans say Korean-American a lot. I think it's a pride of your roots kinda thing. I've never really thought about whether other people say French-American or Lebanese-American, that's interesting.
@orenji196
@orenji196 6 жыл бұрын
It’s because Asians don’t look white and people ask what are we so we are required to say Korean American all the time. No one is gonna ask a French person “what are you” in America. Obviously they’re white/European. Asian people are always having to explain to people which Asian they are because they’re always being asked. Being French American is not the same experience in the US as being Asian American or someone who isn’t white. it reminds you you’re different and you’re not the average “American” so you get used to saying what you are. No one is gonna look at a white person in the US and say “where r u from?” They assume you’re American. They look at an Asian and they say “yeah but where r ur parents from?” That make sense?
