That's not true. 60% of the food is vegetarian, but there are lots of carnivorous options. Traditional French food is far from vegan. FYI the theme is to make this the greenest games ever with a focus on a lower carbon footprint and sustainability.

I agree, man. I don't know what it is with Europe wanting to pretend it's 1900, and global warming has not signficantly raised temperatures there. I've been looking at the weather reports and I don't think the daytime high been under 26 C (80 F !) at any point in the past two weeks. And there's been or two days a week when it's over 30 C (86 F!!). It's not just France either, most European countries seem to want to pretend that's not hot over there. 60,000 died in 2003 from the heat and that didn't wake them up. Have to tell you, I will probably only visit in winter! Because they seem to agree that buildings need to be heated in winter, it's only summer when their brains malfunction and they think people are comfortable with an indoor temp north of 30 C (86 F). 🙂

THIS kind of thing should be avoided at all cost. The fact is that the richer nations can afford to mitigate these things (bring their own air or move them to hotels, provide food, etc.) while those on shoe-string budgets will have to allow their athletes to languish. Goes against everything the Games represent. These Olympics have NOT provided an even playing field.

Yeah, the British delegation had installed their own air conditioning in the British quarters in the Olympic Village prior to the Olympics and brought their own barista with them. If France could not afford to host the Olympics, why would they embarrass themselves like this? Going "green" in Paris is actually a euphemism for poor and struggling. From the Blasphemous Opening Ceremony to the polluted Seine River for the Triatholon, to the poor infrastructure and facilities at the Olympic village, to the shallow swimming pool ... this will go down in history as one of the WORST Olympics hosted by a country ever. It’s amazing, the gross disconnect here between reality and the people who made such horrible decisions as not having AC in the summer and not understanding the dietary requirements of professional athletes. @@azurman3 Yes, I am aware of that. I was in Paris just 4 weeks ago, and, fortunately, my hotel had AC, which I used. The point is that, with the summer Olympics, Paris is hosting the world, so there is a bigger picture here. There are also the examples of the housing from prior summer Olympics to compare this against. The fact that so many athletes are leaving for hotels is a big deal. There's another side to this. You would think with the Olympics in Paris there would be no hotel rooms available for love or money. But all these players and teams and staff don't seem to be having any problem getting rooms.Where is everybody? Is Paris in the process of taking a financial bath?
@betsychristina3509
@betsychristina3509 Ай бұрын
Its actually a good plan by the french to make the rooms very hard to stay in so that athletes would spend a lot and stay outside, in that way the local will earn lot more...a good boost to the local economy. Also ration the food so that the local eateries will benifit.

Instead of focusing on athletic endeavors, French Olympic "intelligentsia" instead tried to "focus" on being environmentally conscious & progressively responsible. Instead, they ended up falling Flat on their Faces into the River Seine silt & sludge! What could have been landmark moment in modern French history, has ended up making them an international embarrassment....

ya but you guys have AC. I've lived in Europe (cold) and Southeast U.S. (warm & humid) and US is waaayy more comfortable in summer due to AC (If you are indoors. Different story if you are a construction worker etc.). People in Europe just don't realize this. During the summer 2003 heat wave, 15,000 people in France died. Just ignorance.

Simone is a real Legend. That is part of the Character Building that Team sports is suppose to ingrain. Good on her for staying, write a bad review after but live in the same conditions your competitor's from Poorer countries do. If France made money because they scrimped then they deserve the bad reviews. You told the World to come see you and you answer the door with a housecoat on and curlers in

The countries which are located in Northern hemisphere whether the countries which belongs to North American continent or the European countries belonging to European continent most of them are cold countries so during summer the average temperature will be around 24 or 25°C which only feels very hot in those countries as you travel northern hemisphere then imagine if it is 36°C 12°C above the normal then how it feels there also the Geographical location + the type of climate there + construction of buildings+ construction of roads + ventilation system and mainly long hours of sunshine almost 15-16hrs of sunshine and that too they get direct sunshine the UV rays will be very harsh it will be like hot burning sunshine during summers and that too this time of the year the summer goes to peak now imagine how they feel
