I stumbled upon ur channel, searching for info., on the Vagabond in Cecil, to see if it was still open. I guess not, kind of sad. I used to hang out with my Grandpa, and his best friend, nearly everyday in the summers, my whole life at the Vagabond. There was a spot at the counters, where we always sat, where the old men lol, drank coffee, and ate pie around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, when they were done farming, and before their wives had dinner ready at home. Lol, we avoided mentioning the eating pie part to Grandma, when we got home. Ur video on the Vagabond was just beautiful. Felt like I was sitting at the counter again. ❤ I checked out a few other videos too. U r an amazing videographer. I'm hitting the subscribe button. And ur from Defiance, thats cool too. My other grandparents lived there, on Holgate Avenue. ❤ Much luv from a new fan!

Thanks so much for the kind words, Amy! ♥️ So many others have shared their memories and experiences of the old Vagabond with us, too. It was such a special place! We visited again recently with our baby daughter (it was purchased, kept mostly the same, and reopened as the Paulding Pancake House). You can learn more on our blog post here: bornindefiance.com/vagabond-village-end-of-era/ We love showcasing what a gem NW Ohio and the Midwest area is to live in, and all you explore in your backyard here. But we also love traveling the country and world, and sharing our favorite spots and inspiration along the way. 🗺️ We are currently in New Orleans, so stay tuned for more content. 🎷 We truly appreciate the support, and are always open for recommendations! 😊

At 2:46 I remember the last time we were up there with the road washed away with our son in his backpack, he was 2 years old, 20yrs ago. Thanks for the memories.

I remember some 20 plus yrs ago when Olympic Hotsprings was car accessible up to the trailhead with a 2.5mile hike. Did that hike MANY times back in the late 90s early 2000s until the road washed away. Good times! Thanks for reviving those memories.❤

I live in the area and I’ve been on that hike many many times over the years. There’s been warnings up there about certain bacteria in those pools of hot water. The water is not hot enough to kill bacteria. Anybody can do whatever they want but I myself would not be sitting in that water maybe my feet but not my butt

There used to be a resort here at Olympic Hot Springs, I have vague and smiley memories of going there with my parents as a young child, I'm 71 now. Good memories of a beautiful place.

There's two hotspring areas, one at the lodge and the free one up the Elwa , where they took the dam out to restore fish habitat. About ten miles...uphill. There's also a waterfall a few minutes from the parking lot.

Yeah, you are absolutely correct. Not just the resort at Sol Duc, the Olympic Hotsprings did have a resort way back in the day.

We saw other people in the parking lot at the trailhead, but I believe we only saw one other hiker the entire way up the trail. It’s a haul to do on foot! We are with you - we’d love if they would redo the road, but it’s not looking like any efforts have been started.

Our family used to go to the Olympic Hotsprings in the early 1950's. We would rent a cabin and swim most of the day. There were two large swimming pools. I wish there was a way to attach a photo of the pools here.

would it be possible to use an ATV from the place you park to ride up to the trail head? also, did your Electric bike have enough energy to push you all the way to the trailhead? i think its like 12 miles from the parking spot to the trailhead....
@bornindefiance
@bornindefiance Ай бұрын
Apologies for the delay in answering; we just got home from a trip to France/Switzerland. 🇫🇷 🇨🇭 I would be nervous to use an ATV; getting to the trailhead was not super smooth. We had to walk our e-bikes over some very narrow and bumpy, uneven terrain. We had JUST barely enough “juice” in our bikes to do the entire trail; we did have to pedal hard some to conserve going up and luckily going down was a breeze. It sounds like you are planning a trip?

Thank you! The hot spring was about 2 feet deep or so, and mainly for wading. 💧 As for trails, that depends on where you’ll be staying and visiting. Other than the Olympic Hot Spring Trail to get to these natural springs, we loved Hoh Rainforest. There is a lot of hiking you can do there. We covered it in our post here: bornindefiance.com/hoh-rain-forest-unparalleled-beauty-why-you-need-to-visit-now/. If you want more ideas of things to do in the Olympic Park region, this post covers that: bornindefiance.com/olympic-national-park-washington-5-must-dos/. We just adored this area, so you will definitely enjoy! 😊 Let us know if we can assist with anything else, and happy traveling!

Zach, apologies we didn’t see this in time. We went last spring (first weekend of May), but there was no snow. It was damp of course and could be a bit chilly with rain but was pretty nice temperature wise. Olympic Peninsula is just stunning overall! How did your trip end up going? Were you able to make it to the Hot spring?

Did you bring your E bikes? Or was there a place to rent them?
@bornindefiance
@bornindefiance Жыл бұрын
Hi @ceracen. We got ours from Elwha E-Bike Rentals because for an added fee, they will drop off the bikes right to the hot springs trailhead and pick them up when you’re done. Super convenient if you don’t have a big car or extra time! Their rates and packages for this specific trail are available on their website: www.elwhaebikeadventures.com/olympichotsprings Everything else was no-cost; just pack your own snacks and rain gear! We hope you have a fantastic trip. It’s truly beautiful and surreal. Let us know if we can help with anything else!

@@bornindefiance if you google “Bruce Gunderson Olympic Hot Springs Death” some of the stuff going on in the area. Without a doubt multi dimensional feeding ground. Lots of mysterious circumstances taking places in the National Parks. I have travelled solo around the Olympics the last 10 years and feel lucky nothing has happened to me. One thing that will keep you safe is to not travel alone. Everyone who goes missing has one thing in common. I am starting to get to the point I am ready to stop playing roulette and stop going out alone.
