At first I did not appreciate it, but London 2012 gives me this feeling that it's an event I HAVE TO SEE TO BELIEVE. I dunno but seeing the venues, it has that feel of the first Olympiads with a modern touch-- that sort of very idealistic and youthful spirit. Still not yet convinced, but something's telling me that London 2012 is gonna be about reinventing the games and giving it a fresh, youthful feel that would be hard to follow! Like giving this games its very own face

The building of Beijing was exciting and the unveiling was nothing the world had ever seen. It seems like only yesterday. This will be another exciting Olympiad. Can't wait to see the presentation :)

That red structure off to the side of the Olympic stadium at 0:44 - is that the cauldron, or is it that "Orbit" sculpture I heard about a few years ago? (Or is it that the "Orbit" sculpture *is* the cauldron, and you're just being sneaky? :D ) It all looks amazing, and I can't wait for London 2012 - I'm hoping to make it to London later this year (after all the craziness has died down), and the Olympic park is definitely on my "must-see" list.

I think the olympics will be great for London and obviously attract alot of tourists but I can't help but wonder whether the pricetag will be greater than the winnings? All that time and money could probably have been put to better use and more long term jobs given the state of affairs atm...
@princesskyrie12 жыл бұрын
@PaitPait1 Depends on what criteria you use. Bigger doesn't always mean better - sometimes a more intimate show can be lightyears more satisfying than a massive spectacle. Don't get me wrong, Beijing was great, but London has a completely different culture. Besides, the Olympics aren't only about being the best in the world. It's about doing your best and striving to do it better than you did before. I believe London 2012 is going to do just fine. :)

I agree. they need to stop comparing london and Beijing. They have different people, food, music, people, buildings, and way of life. To be honest i thought london was better as it had more of a friendly spirit with the volunters and army.

Very excited especially to have a a place in the Opening Ceremony among the many thousands of participants, we are going to wipe the memory of China, fantastic as it was, into history and put a real British stamp on this.

Not really, london has a nice olympic park. Every country is unique and has different culture. the venues look nice and modern. you must be blind. London has tryed hard. Im sick of people like you comparing it to Beijing, there two different cities completely. Like Rio is so much different to London are you going to compare it to that ?????. My main point is that your comparing to extremely different cities, that have different; Music, culture, food, buildings, people, way of life. stop comp..

how is looking for the worst in everything a British characteristic, that was a big generalization.
@tomsega12 жыл бұрын
The only people speaking negatively about the Olympics in London are Brits. Because that's a national characteristic, looking for the worst. But in this case they're taking it too far. London will be better than Beijing because we already have superior facilities in place to what they could build even with their massive budget.
