Olympic Village Tour: Beijing 2022's Zhangjiakou Olympic Village

Quick tour of the Zhangjiakou Olympic Village, where the ski jumping/nordic/biathlon/freestyle/slopestyle and halfpipe athletes stay. It's the village that's the farthest away from Beijing, and with the most space. We got lucky and were able to have a beautiful blue sky for the tour. Enjoy!

Haha the driver was so adorable. He was told by someone to drive to the ski area but they should’ve headed to the Olympic village. A little confusion and he seemed to feel bad a little for driving to the wrong spot even though it’s nobody’s fault. Very typical driver in the region.

Actually the Beijing Olympic Village isn't repurposed from 2008. That village is completely new. They had to build a new village because the village from 2008 was turned into apartments (which is what's gonna happen to the new village once the Paralympics conclude; the ones in Yanqing and Zhangjiakou will be converted into hotels).

The little snowman you saw at 3:45 is supposed to be Shuey Rhon Rhon, the Paralympic mascot who's a lantern. And Emu is pronounced E-mew. I like that they show events on a big screen at 2:40 so you can gather and watch your fellow teammates compete. Especially love that they're showing curling at that moment...which is pretty much just sweeping the floors before the Roomba does 🤣Thank you for showing detailed tours of life within the bubble! And while you may not have won a medal, I can tell that you're still having a blast and you should be proud of yourself and your achievements thus far.
