This match is going to be soooo good!!!! I must admit, it took me a little bit to understand the exact meaning of this episode's title, but once I discovered it, I was obsessed. It took a completely different direction than what I expected, but it is sooooo real and so relatable.
I am definitely ready to take on more of a volleyball and strategy focus in upcoming episodes, but I love what they did here and this is going to be a tough battle for sure!

With Hinata's multiple tries at reading the ball and fails at properly getting the ball, one thing I love is how increasingly proud and supportive Noya is. He was initially surprised at Hinata's first attempt after the training camp but then he just knew what Hinata was trying to do and show his support every single time after that, whether with his excited expression or words of encouragement. I'll say that Noya has complete faith in that Hinata will be able to get it.

Atsumu thinking "This position, this timing, this angle" is a call back to Kageyama thinking the exact thing when setting the super quick to Hinata (on Season 1 ep 4 and 24). Crazy that he just decided to do it on a whim. That's why Osamu was so surprised that the ball "just showed up".

We are very fortunate that Karasuno's support was Japanese taiko. Every summer Japanese children participate in a festival where taiko is played. This festival is as familiar to Japanese children as Christmas. So the taiko brings a sense of nostalgia and security to the children

It's funny hearing you talk about how Karasuno needs to deal with the service pressure - in one of the later interviews the author actually lamented creating so many talented servers (particularly setters) like Oikawa and Atsumu in the opposing teams cause it became too easy to put Karasuno in a pinch :"D Inarizaki's cheer squad music was actually recorded with one of Japan's best-performing high school brass bands from Funabashi high! The guy at 8:05 you asked about is Kiryuu, one of Japan's top-3 aces this year along with Ushijima and Sakusa; he was only shown briefly before.

It's going to be interesting seeing when Sarah pauses for commentary vs when the show cuts to Suguru and Mika. Mika is a lot like last season's Yachi - playing the audience serogate and asking questions about volleyball so Suguru can explain what's going on for those less experienced in the game. Inarizaki's banner also has its own flare. It isn't as mystical as Fly, Connect, Iron Wall, or Rule the Court but it has its own swagger. Yes, it references not fixating too much about past success but it's also a cool counter to the sentiment we see in a lot of other sports anime. If a team doesn't win players might say "the real prize is the friends we made along the way" or "at least made fun memories". This banner says - Forget memories, we're here to win. It's a bad ass statement.
@mansfaye1084

The second layer to this which people do not really talk about is that this applies to wins too, not only losses. The fact that they're seeded, 2nd in the country, etc... does not matter. They're here to play and win, and wont get too comfortable and sloppy

1) inarizaki’s MB is DEFINITELY a sleepy boy like Kenma. And both of them are very precise and go hard when they need to 😤 2) I was in the PEP BAND for my college WVB team. I saw every home game for 5 years. When another team served, we would go “BOUNCE. BOUNCE. bou-BOUNCE. buh-BOUNCE. spinspinspinspin oooooOOOOOoooOooOOOOOEYYYY”. Is that better or worse than the random scream in the middle of the silence? 😂 3) when the commercial animation ends, it goes straight into the scene. If you skip forward, you’ll just be missing a few seconds though 👍🏼 4) Big Sis Tanaka is Best Big Sis 😍 5) clearly, all the teams are animal themed. Nekoma (neko = cat🐱 ) Inarizaki (Inari = fox 🦊) 6) another great video!! “Nitty gritty”? Hell yeah, You’re gonna LOVE this game 😈 -Ames 💕🏐

The thing about Atsumu is, he may be my favourite Haikyuu character besides Nishinoya and Kuro. I can't tell why because you will see in future episodes that he works really hard for his position. You will also see his attitude while playing. You can tell that he is not only a badass but he also admits when someone has done a good play, like the quick of our crow duo where he kinda even fanboyed. That and other future scenes of him just show how much he loves the game, he can smile and laugh on the court because he loves the game so much and then he will switch to being serious again and this brutal setter you don't want to play against. As a male, I feel uncomfortable to say: Oh yeah, this guy is hot and so on...but let me tell you this much guys, if I was a girl I would crush SO hard on that guy😂
@MasterPpv

I love the psychological warfare aspects that have been brought into this match because of the crowd. We got a tiny glimpse of what it could be like with Shiratorizawa, but Inarizaki's crowd is far more involved and well-trained. Also, I know how frustrating it'll be as a Karasuno fan to see them get influenced and thrown off by these tactics so much, but there's a few other factors to consider, too. For one, this is the first time our boys have come up against a truly hostile crowd that actually has strategy to what doing. Second, even when Karasuno adapts, the crowd is actually adapting with them to stay even further ahead. They started off booing during our serves. When Karasuno started to get used to that, they changed over to messing with the rhythm. As our boys are trying to get used to that, the team itself chimes in and adds on the varying timing of their serves after the whistle. Simply put, no other team or crowd has ever put our boys in this kind of situation before, and it's happening when they're also coming to nationals for the first time, AND playing the second best team in the country, with the best high school setter in the country. So many individual factors all just adding and adding to this mountainous pile of pressure.
@SarahPavanVolleyball
@SarahPavanVolleyball Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with everything you're saying here. There is definitely a lot coming at Karasuno, and it just keeps piling on, even with the immense pressure they are already feeling being at Naitonals. I do have to say, though... I love how you said "our serves."

This match is awesome. Atsumu can be a jerk at times, but the way he loves volleyball is so pure, beautiful and contagious. He was captivated by Kageyama's quick and wanted to try it himself. And he's a beast of a setter, which is shown to us perfectly by how he manages to achieve it first try in the middle of a stressful match. Of course, he did it with his brother. They've been practicing and playing together for a lot of time, so he knows almost perfectly how Osamu plays, his reach, his speed, etc. Also, what Atsumu says is an awesome paralel to Kageyama saying the very same thing with the minus tempo. I can't wait to see you watching this match. Inarizaki is such an amazing team with really cool and interesting dynamics

I think it's safe to say now why I love Atsumu as a character compared to Oikawa (I'm comparing because they're both annoying lol) since you already saw him being 5 years old at the match and the twin's weirdo quick, I love that he just gets excited when he plays with a good opponent, not get intimidated or feeling insecure, and not afraid to try new things. And that doesn't mean he's a reckless player like Jozenji's players, he can nail it because he definitely has a great foundation/technique. BUT! If I were a volleyball player, I don't want either him or Kageyana as my setter, I sure prefer Oikawa because he will make me better without having to chew me up 😂

I remember in this episode when Saeko showed up with the Taiko drums I felt a little bad... I remember there was some prior episode where it was mentioned off hand that Saeko played the drums in a traditional Japanese group during festivals and I colored the picture in my head that she was just fooling around somewhere, probably showing up late and unprofessional person to work with... but this episode somehow showed me that YES she is showing up late and has her issues as a person, but by god she takes her job seriously when she's doing it, so I felt like I underestimated her, she wasn't just playing with the group she was kind of leading them. Quite a fun what-if scenario to think about :D

I love the kansai dialect😊 & loved Tsukishima's reaction to the booing. It's so HIM!😆 Since there werent any really wonky subs this ep, just gonna leave my personal opinion about 1 that I've seen brought up by others before: 29:58 「攻めるタイミングは逃したらアカンよなぁ?」→ "We can't miss a chance to score. Am I right?". I personally don't have a big problem with this sub, but I've read commenters write that it should actually be something like "Don't miss the timing for the attack" & that Atsumu is telling Osamu to get the timing for the upcoming quick attack right. I however believe that the original line was meant to be criptic for the viewers for building up to the actual Miya twin quick attack while showing that Osamu could still tell what Atsumu was hinting at despite that. The more literal translation might be "(We) shouldn't miss the timing for going on the offensive, now should (we)? ". The "timing" here pertains to "at what time during the game" rather than something related to a technical aspect of a certain single play, so "chance" or "opportunity" in place of "timing" in this case works OK.

Welcome to the greatness that is Atsumu and Inarizaki in general✨🤌🏼 Gotta be honest, this game was real conflicting for me to watch because I, of course, wanted Karasuno to win but at the same time I didn't want Inarizaki to lose🥲 They are so good and such a breath of fresh air and have some of my favourite characters on their team, so I couldn't help rooting for them too😂 Atsumu is probably my favourite character in this series and (in my opinion, everyone is very welcome to have their own opinion☺️) the best setter out of the big 3 (Kags, Oikawa and Atsumu) because he is basically the perfect balance of the other two. He isn't a "genius" like Kageyama but he isn't "ordinary" like Oikawa either. He's somewhere in the middle. But aside from his insane skills, I think he's my fave because of his pure love for the game. He loves it with his whole being and he enjoys a good game and good plays even from his opponents. He is demanding but he also gives 120% back. He is skillful but still playful. He's such a fun player to watch. I'm happy to see that you are already warming up to him and the team! I cant even explain how much I LOVE your reaction to this game!! 😭❤️❤️ your mention and appreciation of the various plays done in this game is just so on point. I'm so glad you're happy the other team is good!! It shows how hyped up you are. I really really enjoyed your commentary (both professional and personal)

@16:04 Also, when you do a quick serve initially followed by a long waited serve, you can really catch a team kinda almost stiffening their muscles too much because they originally were waiting for that potential quick serve again, just to be put in their ready stance longer then they had originally thought.

If Sarah is also interested in comics, I highly recommend reading haikyuu's comics. This season of anime has a few imperfections, but the manga is pretty amazing.

An irl Japanese high school volleyball club known for its superb cheering section, Narashino High, actually gets a lot of compliments even from their opponents' cheer sections. There are a lot of ppl who have talked abt being there to cheer for Narashino's opponents but being in awe at how disciplined, coordinated, and well-choreographed the opposing cheer section is, to the point where they can take attention from the matches. Also, they don't seem to boo their opponents, so that's a big difference

it's slightly off topic but I actually know someone irl with Bokuto's personality, and unless their boyfriend manages them and predicts their moods like Akaashi does, this person becomes nearly insufferable. but it's funny how before meeting them I didn't think Bokuto's mood swings were a problem, I just thought they were amusing

Because of the delay between seasons 3 and 4, I had seen the first 3 seasons several times before this one when it aired. And because of that, right when I saw Tsumu "This position" after The Destroyer played in the background, my heart skipped a beat, lmao And then Miya Atsumu's OST kicked in and, wew

I don't often comment on youtube videos but I feel the need to express my thanks and love for your videos. There's not much better/more enjoyable than watching a master discuss their craft, for no matter how long it is. And every time you pause for those explanations right before the show does I grin from ear to ear, knowing that the show is gonna do it in a minute. Yet at the same time it just reinforces the quality of the series, if you can notice it before the show tells you about it then it just goes to show that both you and the series know what they're talking about. I could listen for hours to your "espn breakdowns" of what you think about any of the matchups and it only makes it better as someone who has watched/read the whole series when you're almost always right. As well as your enthusiasm for everything from the volleyball to the Tanaka romance subplot is just so much fun to watch. So in short thank you for these videos, it is always such a treat to watch and has become some of my absolute favorite content on this site. I always hope your apologies for your tangents is in jest, because it only makes the content that much better listening to you predict the future because of your knowledge of the sport, and I could listen to it forever. This series of reactions has only made me enjoy Haikyuu as a whole even more somehow. It's such a shame that this is the last animated match for now, but I will be here for every single second of video you put out on it, popcorn in hand, because what a match it is.
