I love wrestling so much I've been wrestling since I was 9,this sport is what makes me feel good about myself it sucks im not gonna be able to wrestle districts this year I just hurt my arm and I was bummed from the bad news I can't wrestle and with out wrestling Im nothing,but I'll be back in freestyle/Greco season which is the style I prefer more :)

My name is Randy Lex and I know this sport pretty good, the number one problem these days is athletes get caught after a takedown attempt by the opponent grabbing the ankles to stop this do a duck under a arm drag a single leg with a limp arm or a under arm spin or just a high crotch and then hit the single at his kness or just defensively shucks to a take down to many wrestlers shoot then stop and it gives to much time to gravb the ankles trust me

Folk style wrestling is antiquated and unwatchable . The weight classes are a joke even though the removed 106. The weight groups of 112 to 126 are mostly malnourished kids.

Takedowns are tougest in the Sand Wrestling style. Anyting physical in a shifting environment like the sand is more demanding on the muscles. Same goes for exercises. Sand Wrestling=better at neutral

I agree freestyle helps with competing in folk style, but not for most of the reasons some of these (admittedly) greats say... and before anyone says it, I'm ready for shallow thinkers to assume the experts can't be wrong. I'm just saying that Kerry McCoy said it best, mentioning it's the change of pace that helps. Freestyle doesn't have better technique; it has a change in technique, and the differences and variety always helps keep opponents off guard and not quite prepared for you. They have seen the folk style stuff more often, so anything different, freestyle or even Judo, is going to help immensely. Guess what? When I trained with Judoka, freestyle, or other styles or grappling, they could score more with their familiarity of their rules, but my folkstyle really messed with them. It also helped some bypass the other Judokas and freestylers beat other Judokas and freestylers. It's all about the changes keeping you fresh, and confusing your opponent. There is no "better style".

Fun fact at about 3:10 Kevin Jackson says every olympic champion wrestled freestyle/greco-roman. Isn't that the only way to win an olympic championship? Jordan Burroughs who is currently undefeated did not wrestle freestyle until college.

If a wrestler is ready this and starting mma when u take a guy down do not lay on learn Bjj and Muay Thai and mma wrestling is a lot different the cage makes a big difference

I'm 99% sure they all know that wrestling is a combat sport with certain objectives. Wrestling or submission grappling are their own thing and so is boxing and Muay Thai. Even though some of these are kinda different and similar you have to adjust accordingly and I'm pretty sure everyone knows that.

folk style theirs more roles and based off your moves you know and reverses freestyle you can freestyle in a match do moves that are illegal in freestyle and the refree positioning and ext is different greco your only wrestling witth your upper body no legs
