Ludmilla Tourischeva married Valeri Borzov, the Munich 100 meters champion, in 1977. Nelli Kim became a judge. Tourischeva coached Natalia Shaposhnikova. Nadia Comaneci married Bart Connor. A great gymnastics era.

11:28 well.... this wins the most awkward Olympic moment ever.

I had schoolboy crush on her. I remember to this day, the ABC "meet the competitor" piece about her. She was from Tashkent and of Central Asian and Korean parentage. I found a poster of her in a Gymnastics magazine in my high school library about two years after these games...I don't remember how it made it's way onto my bedroom wall(??????)

Actually the music in Nadia"s exercise is old '40 romanian "bar" music (aprox translate) "Doi lei o tigara...." almoust something like cabaret music, for the time and comunist era in Romania is something very progresist. If you want can try search Tanase romanian music.

the award ceremony at the end of this video shows ludmilla tourischeva winning silver and nellie kim winning bronze in the individual all around, however the final results from all other online sources say the opposite and that it was infact Nellie who won silver. It is possible this is due to a mixup during the awards ceremony following the soviets protesting Ludmillas results, claiming her scores were too low. This is something which is hard to confirm however and if anyone has any insight into this i would love to know. thank you

@irafa29 жыл бұрын
+L Ti Because, it was the end of her career, she retire after the Olympics. The Olympics gave so much to her and she was aware of that even at the end. With her also was the end of an age in gymnastics, after her it was dominated by this girls like Olga, Nadia, etc.

This Olympic History film on the female gymnastics competition has not only presented the events as historical error but it also has obvious bias to Russian gymnasts who were ALL outclassed, out-performed, grossly beaten, and emphatically dethroned by the greatest female gymnast in Olympic history - the 14-year old NADIA COMANECI of Romania.
