But why? Those are her accomplishments, not yours and not those of other Brazilians. Sure, some actively helped her (trainers, family), but the vast majority of Brazilians has nothing to do with it. To feel better about yourself because someone with the same nationality did something great is actually pretty pathetic if you think about it. I know this is a global phenomenon but humankind will hopefully get over this nationalistic bs.

@@sunshinemaye How can I be wrong when this is my personal preference? I didn't say she is better than Biles. I said she is MY favorite vaulter. Biles got her deserved gold. But I love to see Rebeca form in the air and stick landings here, it is mesmerizing.

@@battlehymnoftheempath3610 gymnastics are also artistic, I also think Rebe is more enjoyable because of that aspect on her performances. Biles is the goat on the tumbling aspect, no discussion, but for those who enjoy the artistic aspect, Rebeca is more enjoyable indeed. Brazil's gymnastics is reference on the floor apparatus because of how expressive the athletes are, and I like that this is slowly becoming a trend. Everybody wins, specially the fans.

As a Brazilian myself, I could not be prouder! Rebeca's gone through not only one but THREE ACL surgeries and I cannot imagine how hard this might have been for her and yet she's been competing at the highest level possible. She's the true definition of perseverance, drive and hard work. Seeing an athlete so kind and joyful gives me hope for the next generation of Brazilian gymnasts. Fun fact…a handful of Olympic champions have that vault and floor titles. If you’re a great vaulter you’re most likely a great floor worker. Latynina, Caslavska, Kim, Zsabo, Milosovici, Zamolodchikova, Izbasa, Biles, and now Andrade ❤️❤️❤️ Honorable mention (Amanar since she won gold on Vt in Atlanta and got 2nd on floor and of course let’s not forget Onodi in 1992 when she won gold on Vault with Milo and 2nd on floor). So happy she went home with a Gold ❤️🇧🇷

Thank you so much for this video! Rebeca deserves this acknowledgment so much! Her perseverance, her amazing form, her contribution to the historical team's medal... The list can go on and on. She will be ever remembered and celebrated by us, brazilians. ps.: Gymnastics academies are now crowded by children who have been inspired by our gymnasts in Paris and particularly by Rebeca's achievements. As Daiane dos Santos inspired Rebeca herself 20 years ago, Rebeca is now a symbol for the new generation of athletes in Brazil.

we are extremely proud of this girl. she really represents the best we have in several categories: resilience, talent, humbleness, empathy, charisma and beauty. a true brazilian princess competing face to face with a titan (Simone is a goddess level gymnast). Brazil had passed through a LOT the last ten years, and even the new-formed "idols" on pop culture did not represented what we need to see in ourselves.
