Great camera work. Notice how they cut to a close-in shot every half-lap. Because if they just followed them round and round in the wide-angle we would all get dizzy.
@djnewman78 жыл бұрын
I think it would have been better if they just panned out and showed the whole field. It would have easier to follow a single cyclist.

DJ Newman Find a video with that perspective and I think you would get dizzy. Or at least most people would.

You will not understand if you don't know the rules. Not just here, but in every cycling track discipline... This video is Omnium. Omnium is like Decathlon or pentathlon. Many even that athlete have to do. This event is POINT RACE. long distance cycling race. You have to collect point... There are many way to get point. 1. Sprint. Every 10 lap, the bell ring. The first four will get point. Different each other. More point if you in the first. 2. Overlap. You get 20 point.

Es una cuestión de física sobre la resistencia del viento, si vas a rueda de otro ciclista realizas menos esfuerzo del que va adelente por la estela del viento.

@@LM.211 sorry, they apply pressure backwards in the pedal to slow down their cadence which slows down their wheel.

what counts as "the field", how do you know if they lapped "the field"?
@eleanorlittlejohn67147 жыл бұрын
The rider has to lap the person in second to lap "the field"

I don't get it ,how is this race fair if they do not stagger the cyclist. (can somebody how understand this sport explain?)
@slimjimmypage9 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Moton What do you mean by stagger? Are you referring to how they're in a line?
@aaronmoton66299 жыл бұрын
Kind of, you know how in track in field the racers are staggered at the beginning of any race with turns: 200 400 ...to make up the advantage of the inside lane, why is cycling different?
@slimjimmypage9 жыл бұрын
Aaron Moton They don't have to stay in a lane. They're allowed to use the whole track. If a rider wants to ride the inside line they can. It can be faster to go off the inside line and get up on the banking and use the gravity to shoot you to the line I hear. I guess it's sort of like a marathon - the runners don't all run the same exact distance (because they start in a big group), but it doesn't really matter.
@aaronmoton66299 жыл бұрын
+slimjimihendrix Oh okay that helped, thank you for your time.
@sssamcz8 жыл бұрын
As Jimi said, it's not run in lanes, you are free to move wherever you want on the track at any time. Generally, you will save energy by riding behind someone else, and only use the banking to help with a fast acceleration to take them by surprise. In this particular race there is a sprint for points every ten laps, the first four places getting points. Then you get bonus points if you gain a whole lap on the rest of the field. So it becomes very strategic as to whether you try to win the sprints to gain points, or go for the big bonus by taking a lap.
@JeffSmith-eq3kc4 жыл бұрын
What I don't get it how can a rider who was part of the field that got lapped then win a sprint? All but 5 riders were lapped, shouldn't they be the only ones earning sprint points?
@Tyranastrasza3 жыл бұрын
when you lap the main group, you get 20 bonus points and then everybody get on the same lap again. Meaning you can win sprints even if you get lapped.
@OcelotMinecraft8 жыл бұрын
why do they go to the outside and lose all there positions I know it's a rule but it makes no sense
@applesapple66758 жыл бұрын
being at the front is harder because you hit the wind, that's why they are staying in the group as opposed to being spread way out all over the track. and no there is no rule against sitting at the front the whole time
@famoustuber28048 жыл бұрын
The one at the front is the one leading the race and he has to strive the most because he decides the speed of the queue. If you are behind the first one you are in a slipstream and doesn't need to strive as much to keep the speed up.
@sugiartokahar9383 жыл бұрын
In cycling track... you don't want to be in front of anyone until the time of action . Its strategic thing. You will use so much energy if you in the front
