she may not be perfect, she may not be the most powerful but she'll always be one my favorites.

She was always capable of doing more. She was training a whip+whip double arabian and double layout before the Rio but then I think her coaches thought it would be better to go for higher execution and her knee so they took out the double layout. Weird thing was she was training 2 whips into her full-in during podium at Rio, but she never put them in for competition. She also stopped training the 2.5+full right before the Olympics. Her beam and floor compositions just weren't up to her standards for this Olympics.

She was really badly injured in Rio unfortunately but she came back to help her team. And even injured she still came away with a full set of medals

It’s so refreshing to watch her floor routine... It’s like ballet and It's artistic. Her 2012 floor routine was mesmerizing too. Probably she cut few moves in Rio due to her injury. But her movements are still so elegant.

It's such a miracle that Aliya was able to compete on floor here, she was so injured! I wish she had been at her full strength in Rio to fight for the all around gold. I'll always be grateful for her passionate and elegant performances, even not at her peak.

i knew simone and aly were going 1&2, but i rooted for mustafina for bronze, and the back to back bars gold. she is quiet during the quad but ALWAYS pulled through at the olympics and i am hoping for her success in tokyo! she will always be my all time sentimental favourite, and i'll always root for her.

This is not meant to criticize her at all, for me as a fan of rhythmic gymnastics it’s just always hard to see pivots in ag because the execution is so bad (compared to rg ofc)
