Just an FYI, up until the 1992 Olympics gymnasts were allowed to do vaults in the same family (same type of entry) as thier the 2 vaults. In 92 it changed to 2 different family vaults. That's why you see Onodi 92 and the rest after doing a front entry or roundoff half on and then a yurchenko style on the other vault
The 1980 Moscow vault finals saw three best AA gymnasts falling in their second vaults (Davydova,Comaneci,Gnauck) so Shaposhnikova took her chance.

If the athletes in the 80s didn't push the boundaries of their time and pave the way, then today's wouldn't qualify either. Comments like these are incredibly small-minded and ignorant

No one really sticks the landing anymore.

The vaults are harder and require more power that’s harder to contain, plus they now land on mats which are bouncier and safer for their joints. I feel like sticking the landing with the current equipment will become more common once gymnasts and coaches learn the techniques necessary to safely stick on these new floors.
