The f/1.8 trio are spectacular: 17, 25, and 45mm. Love the photos, love the size.

i just bought this lens on the strength of its legendary good performance reviews. I bought the silver one which i paired with my silver E-M10 mark III camera; from my initial shots, i am absolutely satisfied with its image quality. I am not a professional photographer; i am a hobbyist who just loves to take pictures. Many thanks for this vid, Brian! I am a fan of your channel! Keep up the outstanding work!

Took it yesterday for a short walk when on my way to shops - it's amazing: it's fast, fast, fast, sharp, and gives beautiful colours on my G9.

I have just bought this lens and have been delighted with the results. I’m going on holiday and I’m going to just take this lens and the 17mm f1.8. I have a range of zoom lenses - 12-40 and 40-150 - but as it’s not a dedicated photo trip, I thought I’d give myself a challenge of just using 2 primes. Will match with my OM-1. Nice informative video btw.

I am a multi format shooter, and primarily shoot Fujifilm APS-C and Nikon FX- along with the Fuji 50 mm f/2, I absolutely love the Olympus 45 mm f/1.8 for portraits and other purposes. I am a big fan of 85-90 mm full frame lenses, and the 45 mm is right up there in image rendition.

I took this out yesterday for some filming in the woods at Coombe Abbey. I was also amaised how well the 25mm Oly 1.8 performed for landscapes and portraights. I paid £80 for my 45mm and it is my go to lense for product photography. How do Olympus do it!

No more equivalents - hurrah. Short telephoto/portrait lens, perfect way of describing a lens saying how it's used.

I just re-bought the 45 1.8. I missed it, man. The portraits it produces are still beautiful and I used it before for snakes and the colors popped like no other. I want to get the 75 1.8 and the PL 12 1.4 next.

Combining this lens with an achromatic close-up lens (also small and compact) gives close-focus capabilities without much extra money and weight. I always have this little "extra" in my bag. The look of this lens is gorgeous - and it even is the cheapest lens in the Olympus lineup (as far as I remember).

My favourite lens ☺❤ I use mine on my G7 and the pictures it takes are superb. The blurred background king in its price range. I'm just about to trade in my G7 for the G9. Can't wait to use it on this platform.

The one lens missing from my kit. I think I’d have to sell something off to justify it. I love my 75mm f1.8 as a portrait lens, even if I do need a mobile phone to communicate with my subject. I may have to buckle at the knees and get one if I find a good used model. I certainly couldn’t justify getting the f1.2 version as beautiful and pricy as it is. Speaking of equivalencies, one of the camera kits that I have is the Lumix GF1 with the 20mm f1.7 kit lens. In addition I have a Canon 5D classic with the 40mm f2.8 Canon lens, a remnant from my FF days. Apart from the sensor size they are both EQUIVALENT focal lengths and with similar pixel counts. There’s a four year age spread between when they came out, but I thought it might be interesting to see how they play with each other. It’s just a happy coincidence that I have these two camera and lens combos. Has anyone else out there tried similar testing?

That 75mm 1.8 is an unbelievably good lens. I don’t have one anymore and I keep on wanting to get another. It’s a little long for me except close headshots for how I like to work in the studio, as you say, use the phone to communicate lol. But I really believe it’s not just one the best M43 lenses but one the best on any format

Love your work mate! Haven't commented before, but just wanted to chime in on Bokeh and say it's neither Boh-Kah nor Boh-Kay but rather it is Boh-Keh. Which is funny because Boh-Keh sounds perfectly suited to your dulcit tones! :)

Nice video. Thank you. For the comparison to the Pana 42.5 f1.7 there are a bit more plus points for the Pana. it has a stabiliser build in (agreed only more usefull on Pana bodies). It has a shorter minimum focus distance.
@ThatMicro43Guy Жыл бұрын
It certainly is a better lens overall but depends upon whether it’s worth the difference for the owner. Not sure which one I’d buy if I were buying new and didn’t have one in this range
@tt-ew7rx Жыл бұрын
@@ThatMicro43Guy Having owned the Olympus for many years, if I'm buying new I'd go for the Panasonic. The difference in price, spread out across thousands of photos including hundreds that I missed because of the min focus distance is too long, is nothing.

Every once in awhile I consider buying the 45mm f1.2 but then I look at the price and the size and I just go back to the f1.8.

The 45mm f/1.8 is a handy little lens for travelling! I took the ring off and put it in a box. Useless bit, the 50mm f/1.8 has the same. I’m into practical not aesthetic! I assigned a button on my EM1 mk3 for Manual Focus and it works better on MF, if required.

The 45mm F1.8 along with the 17mm F1.8 are spectacular lenses. I do have Leica M film and digital cameras with some very exotic Leica and Zeiss glass, so I humbly declare that I know a good lens when I see one.
