@@ChrisBaitsonPhoto I live in the middle of the prairie here in Kansas, 2 1/2 day’s drive from the Atlantic and 3 day’s drive from the Pacific. And 9 hour’s drive from the Rocky Mountains. It’s so grand to see what you do with the seashore and with some real craggy country as well. When I miss the sea or the mountains, your videos always lift my spirits! Thanks! -Brent

Funny how we want that we don’t have easy access to. I think I take the coast for granted at times, yet the mountains are a 7-8 hour drive for me, seems nothing compared to you but it’s a lot for me. Perspective at its finest.

I really like this lens. BTW it's not a trio, it's more. 12mm f2, 17mm f1.8, 25mm f1.8, 45mm f1.8 and the 75mm f1.8 the magic mft pentagon.
@jockturner15475 ай бұрын
The 75mm f1.8 is legendary. Adore that lens

There are three Olympus lenses which provide outstanding performance regardless of the price. The 17mm F1.8, the 25mm F1.8 and the 45mm F1.8. The 17 and the 45mm are particularly fine lenses. I often go around Manchester with 17mm and 45mm and I don't seem to need anything else for that matter. I keep the 12~40 F2.8 Pro for when I feel strong enough to carry a heavier load around.

Great video Chris. Fantastic photos! To me the 25mm f1.8 is one of the most underrated lenses. (Already to be seen in the comments) At first glance this lens is not special, but looking into details it very much is. This lens is sharp without ever becoming harsh and it handles light exceptionally well, especially at night. I use this lens a lot for night street photography and get very nice results. The more I use this lens the more I like it.

Lovely location and the drone footage! Great photos! I never tried a 25mm prime on M43. I have the Panasonic 20mm F1.7 so I never thought of needing the 25mm F1.8. I know the Panasonic 20mm is a bit of a hit and miss with the AF. Out of the Olympus F1.8 trinity I only have the 45mm.

Great video, Chris! As always, I might add. I love shooting with the Oly 25mm f/1.8, too. The colors are very true to life. Paired with my OM-D E-M 10 mk ii, it makes for a light but very capable kit.

Despite being an Olympus user, I have the Lumix 25/1.7 for a bit less is quite fantastic on my EM10ii.

But the 25 Panasonic has a faulty design and terrible chromatic aberrations, that's why it's cheap. the F-2:0/F4,0 focus shifting is a real problem if you take portraits

Great video Chris. I only have the 45mm in the 1.8 line up and absolutely love it. The size of an egg and cost me £130. I also have the 20mm f1.4 which I absolutely love, so for now am holding off on the 25mm as I feel it's 'a bit close' and I really like the effective 40mm focal length.

Just picked up a new 45mm f1.8 last Friday. Pretty decent but... i kinda wish i got their 17mm f1.8. Still isnt a bad at all lens

The Olympus 25mm is "slightly" wider then a proper 50mm on FF: If you set it side by side with the Panaleica 25mm F1.4 and the Cheapish 15mm F1.8 you'd see it's rather a 46mm equivalent, which I prefer for general use. I also really enjoy how close this 25mm can focus: almost a macro lens.

I have the holy trinity of F1.8 len's and will be taking the 17mm out for a spin tomorrow in Sussex on a work trip. Need to travel extra light so leaving the EM1 at home, probably take an ancient PM1. All three f1.8's are great but the 45mm is stunning. However I'm looking to get a tiny prime pancake. Have you tried the Olympus 17mm F2.8 and the Lumix 14mm F2.5? I'm not looking for razor sharp just pocketable for street/ casual shooting.
@alangamble32368 ай бұрын
Hi Simon, I have the 17 mm 2.8 it was one of the first primes I purchased several years ago and produces good images. But I tend to use the Lumix 20 mm 1.7 which is great.

Hi Simon, I bought the Oly 17mm 2.8 pancake, but on my copy the colors seemed flat, so I sent it back and got the Oly 17mm 1.8. I love the 1.8’s glorious colors, the sharpness, and that cool mechanical focus clutch. Well worth the extra bucks! -Brent

@@TigerPaw193 I'm actually looking getting the 17mm F2.8 to mount on a Pen Mini for the ultimate tiny street cam. Also looked at the LUMIX 14mm F2.5 but not sure if the Olympus will correct chromatic aberration on this lens as the camera is so old.

I first started photography with the E-P2. When I became more aware of what focal lengths are, I aas surprised why the Olympus standard prime is over twice the price as those from Canon and Nikon DSLRs. I was even more surprised when I held it my hands, after using the CaNikon versions.

I enjoy the challenge of using primes, more drama in the extra effort you put in.

The fact that on a full frame shoot lighthouse was closer than on MFT shoot - just shows that 25mm on Olympus is not truly 50mm in FF terms. It is wider lens.

@@stmsaiya Panasonic 9mm f1.8, om system 20mm f1.4, and 45mm f1.8. if you shoot outside a lot I would also consider 12-45mm f4. The 12-45mm is the same size as the 20mm f1.4 stowed away.
