Olympus Camedia C-3000 Zoom in 2022?

Here another vintage Digital Camera from my collection - the Olympus Camedia C-3000 Zoom in champagne.
It came on the market in June 2000 and was available until the end of 2001
Sensor
The CCD sensor with a size of one of one point 8 inch (1/1.8") or 7.2 x 5.3 mm with a crop factor of 4.8
with delivers JPGs, TIFF images with 3.3 megapixels
The max. photo resolution in the 4 to 3 aspect ration is:
2,048 x 1,536 pixels (4:3)
1,600 x 1,200 pixels (4:3)
1,280 x 960 pixels (4:3)
1,024 x 768 pixels (4:3)
and downwards to:
640 x 480 pixels
There is even a video function with resolutions of:
320 x 240 (4:3) 12 p
and 160 x 120 (4:3) 30p
in the MOV format.
Whereas the maximum recording time is 30 sec..
LENS
The buil-in OLYMPUS AF ZOOM LENS has focal length of 32 to 96 mm (35mm equivalent) which is a 3x optical zoom
There is also a digital zoom for 2.5x magnification.
The apertures are from F2.8 to F11 (wide angle)
Autofocus
Of course there is a single auto focus, continuous auto focus and manual focussing.
The front of the lens tube has a 43 mm filter thread
Viewfinder and Monitor
The optical viewfinder has a diopter adjustment.
And the 1.8" TFT LCD monitor has 114,000 pixels
Exposure
Exposure metering is Matrix/evaluative metering and spot metering.
The Exposure times are from 1/800 to 4 s (automatic)
1/800 to 16s (in manual mode)
The Exposure control programs are automatic, shutter priority, aperture priority and manual.
There is also a bracketing function with a maximum of 5 exposures
And the Exposure compensation -2.0 to +2.0 EV with step size of 1/3 EV
White Balance can be select for cloudy, sun, fluorescent and incandescent.
The continuous shooting function allows a max. of 3.3 frames/s at the highest resolution and max. 5 stored photos
The self-timer has a lead time of 12 s or 2 s with the remote control
Flash Unit
The build-in flash has a flash range from 0.8 until 5.6 m at the wide angle position
and 0.2 until 3.8 m at Telephoto position.
Several flash functions are available such as automatic, flash on, flash off, slow synchronization and red-eye reduction
Storage
SmartMedia memory cards up to 90MB can be used
The Olympus Camedia C-3040Zoom requires 4 x 1.5V AA standard batteries
The calendar is good until 2030
Weight 380 g (ready for use)
Dimensions W x H x D 110 x 76 x 66 mm
Conclusion:
This a very nice, but slow, Digital Camera in all means.
Besides the aperture and the focal length and some missing special features - this model is pretty much identical to the
Olympus Camedia C-3040 Zoom.
The picture impression is very nice and the color rendening within the TIFF pictures are great especially when optimal light is provided
including sunlight and flash light and you hold the camera still, because there is no image stabelizer.
You have to dive deep into the cameras menue to change the settings so they do not reset to the defaults...
I'm sorry currently November 2022 in Germany, we don't have nice weather and I just can show you a couple of pictures.

Hello, I have no experience with Mac, but just take out the card insert it in a card reader and access it from a PC or Mac. Thanks for watching!

Hi, just open the storage media compartment, take out the memory card and insert it to your card reader connected to your PC.
