OLYMPUS Mju ii (Stylus Epic) with Kodak Colorplus 200 // Photo Walk

Shot in Hong Kong, a quick look at the Olympus MJU ii & Kodak Colorplus 200 35mm film. The camera is a fun camera to use. I actually took the MJU ii and Fujifilm Natura Classica out to shoot this video and I find myself wanting to pull out the MJU more often. You can still pick one up second-handed for around USD 100~150. The only negative I have with the camera is every time you turn on the camera, the flash is set on AUTO, and you'd have to manually set it to OFF if you don't want it to flash unexpectedly. I'm always impressed with the point and shoot cameras that offer a low profile and discreet perspective. I equate that to a iPhone to a regular camera... Everyone has one and never really pay attention to those that have it because they just blend into the crowd. I have the Yashica T4 and it is my goto point and shoot camera when I really need to get in close for some street photography points of view!

Cool first video! Way better than my first attempt. Why am I here? I found myself looking for my old Olympus mju II zoom 170, after watching another video randomly about these great little cameras, I remembered I have 2, the zoom version that I bought 2nd hand off ebay very cheap, when digital cameras came out and an earlier black version without the zoom, which I bought brand new for a fishing holoday in France around 1991, which I can't find at the moment! The zoom model has the original olympus case and after sourcing a battery fired into life with a flashing E symbol, I thought maybe it hadn't survived, the old duracel battery harn't leaked but gone flat with a kodak 36 exp film still inside! Not sure if the film was all or part used I decided yo press the film rewind on the base, it certainly wound back something. Taking it out, the camera now comes on, working fine! My next mission was to find a film locally, trued all the usual places, supermarket, photo shop, even a local boots store ( chemist here in the UK that used to sell and develope film) they all reacted like I'd just come from another planet, film? The best I got was we've not sold that for years lol⚠️😯😁 Maybe I could order some online I thought? But that could take several days if not weeks to arrive! I mentioned it to my wife and after looking all round my local town for some film she then tells me we have 2 films at home, I was sure they were probably already used ones not yet developed but sure enough 2 sealed boots universal 24exp 400 iso films, long out of date.....2005 😯😁 So tomorrow I'm going to make a video, hopefully like yours and take some photos with this great little camera!! I do remember being impressed by the results of my other one, which I must find. I added your channel. 😎👍

Oh man I just bought an Olympus mju ii so I was looking for videos about the camera when I found your video. I did my exchange in Hong Kong in the spring of 2019 and lived in Mong Kok for a while, so seeing these views again made me extremely nostalgic. Great stuff!!

Thanks for the comment Fabrizio! The mju ii is so expensive now, I got it for a third of the price a back in the 00's. As for the pano, I have a minolta that shoots 35mm pano, personally not a fan of fake pano, but i'll still make a video about it! haha.

Hi! Can I ask whether you used the spot exposure button on the camera for these? My photos developed for this camera (used Ektar 100) and all are over exposed!

There's not setting for that, it's auto. I've missed focus before but exposure shouldn't be a problem. I suggest you try another roll with another iso film. if it's still the same, then there's probably something wrong with the camera. Let me know how it goes. :)

nope no flash. i try to remember to turn off the flash unless i'm indoors. :) Thanks for commenting! oh, tip is remember to turn off the flash when u know you are in a sunny or well-lit environment, because the flash on this is crazy, it will go off in bright sunshine.

these photos are beautiful! i was wondering what the difference is between the olympus mju ii and the olympus stylus epic zoom 80? also, is there any difference between the olympus mju ii 170 vf and the olympus mju ii? sorry if there’s a lot of questions, i’m new to film cameras. :))

thanks ella! I haven't used the zoom 80 personally, I've only seen videos. tbh the photos and colors look quite similar but I would guess that the mju ii has slight sharper images. same story with the 170. I remember other KZbinrs saying "get the mju ii if you can, but both are great cameras" I think the Nikon L35AF is also a great point and shoot for beginners.
