I bought the OM-2N back in 1980 at the age of 16. Around 550 US-Dollars. Really expansive for a teenager, i can tell! But it was worth it. I have this camera until today and after 41 years it still works!

Nice review. I have OM1, OM2, OM4 and the OM2 is nothing short of sheer perfection. I find particularly awesome the out-of-this-world OTF metering system, a world first. Something that, I believe, you should have mentioned reviewing this gem.

The rewind knob on your camera seems to be damaged (obviously), as afaik, you shouldn’t have to hold the knob to prevent it from flipping back. Great camera.

hey when i snap the shutterr. the camera shutter will fire but it wont go back up. it wont let me take another photo without turning the battery knob to check/reset then the shutter is able to be fired again

Just picked one up with an extra macro lens for $20 off of Facebook marketplace, I think it works but for the price it’s fine if it doesn’t. Looks pristine, even comes in the original Olympus store bag from when it was new.

When not using for a long time, is it needed to remove the battery out? How to handle the camera so the electronic part not damaged? Thanks

It's a good idea to take the battery out if you're not going to use the camera for more than 6 months

I use whatever film I have on hand or if I want to shoot something specific I'll use that. But mostly Fuji c200 or something similar. I develop and scan some stuff myself and I send some to the lab, depends if I want to risk screwing up the roll or not

It is such a good camera! i love the sound it makes when you take the picture! it is considered one of the best SLRS. The only downside is that its not fully mechanical =(

Lens is dirty, needs to be cleaned. Some cheap glasses cleaning tissues will do. Be kind to this 50 mm! ;) Ps. Thanks for the upload anyway!

Zuiko lens are super underwhelming when adapted to digital. They're much better on film. And forget Helios. All of these are too soft and lack contrast and have nervous bokeh. I recommend Fujinon EBC 1.4 or some takumar 8 element copies. Stellar stuff.

Zuiko and Helios lenses underwhelming on digital? lol. Nope, they are tack sharp with beautiful color/contrast. There are literally thousands of images on Flickr that look gorgeous. But who cares, he's talking about the OM-2N, one of the best SLRs ever made.

@@marike1100 lmao, no they're not. I've owned all of them and multiple copies of each. I even have the latest production of the Zuiko when they started using more advanced coatings and extended the length. So many amateurs like you calling lenses "tack sharp" is just making it mean less and less. We get it, you want to tell people you have a cool vintage $20 yard sale lens that's "as good as a Leica lens IMO, tack sharp on my Sony digital camera!" Or whatever, but it's not the case. I don't need you trying to tell me about lenses you've never owned or tested extensively when I have.

1:39 as long as everything is cranked down I've never seen any degradation in sharpness from just pressing the button instead of a shutter release. Just be super careful about it.
