OLYMPUS OM2 SP No Batteries Challenge

Running out of batteries during a photoshoot can be a serious problem. Fortunately, the Olympus OM 2 SP has mechanical backup speeds, requiring no batteries to operate.
With only two backup mechanical speeds, how challenging would it be to use the camera for photo taking? In this video, I challenge myself to take photos, limiting my camera to only features available without the use of its internal battery.

Do they all use EPX76, and is it the 1.5v battery version?

and the moral of the story is.. always have some extra SR44s in your bag if you are going to carry OM cameras.. Or at least. A bunch of LR44s... considering they are like 100 for 8 bucks on amazon.. it makes zero sense to not have plentiful spares.. But you really should use sr44s because they dont have the immediate voltage drop off which affects the meter.. But.. Take what you can get.

The OM-2N has mechanical bulb (B) mode and will allow for use without the battery. Definitely not as useful as also having 1/60 as well but better than nothing.

True true! I recently obtained an OM2n, was surprised to see the bulb mode also works with no batteries

Hi there, I’m not sure how to make the lever unstuck. Try pressing the shutter button with batteries loaded. Could be possible the camera is already engaged Otherwise, send to a repair shop to have it looked at
