Definitely very useful! I just dumped my Nikon D7000 and bought an E-M1-mk2 and the menus are brutal! You are really helping me make the step to Olympus. I will probably get a Pen-f (or a Pen-F-mk2) as my second body. You're building up a great collection of videos here, and at some point, like with David Thorpe, they're surely going to attract big numbers. Cheers Rob, and thanks!

The first time I watched one of your videos, initially I thought "They'll let anyone onto KZbin". You kept touching your face and hair and your voice is not James Earl Jones, but your videos are very informative and and very USEFUL. You are a good teacher! I like the way you have a dedicated camera focused on the Pen-F's screen. It makes understanding the inputs you are making so much easier to understand. Other KZbinrs just wave the camera LCD at their main and only recording camera and hope we can see what they're doing. Hopeless. So I enjoy watching your videos and I hope you don't change a thing. Who needs James Earl Jones when we can have Rob Trek. Keep up the good work. Have you considered Patreon for your channel? I'd be happy to contribute.

One thing I noticed (playing with the bracketing functions for a couple hours today on my recently-purchased EM1 Mark ii...), using the Bracketing function in the menu offers a maximum of 1 stop, whereas using the Bracketing button on top of the camera will go up to 2 stops apart. You custom timer idea is golden! I ordered a very cheap ($10) plug-in shutter release today to make it easier to fire off the shot sequence. When you are trying to move fast on a real estate shoot, tenderly touching the shutter button is annoying. Thank you for your tips!!!

Once get the logic of how the menu is set up and set the custom items in SCP and dails it's actually very easy and powerful camera to use. Thank you for the video. Very interesting and informative. I wanted to know your opinion about omd em5 mark ii. Is there a difference in the quality of the image between it and pen f. Whether it is necessary to overpay for pen f
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 7 жыл бұрын
For me, there is no difference between my em10 mark II and my pen-f in terms of picture quality. The em5 mark II adds a larger viewfinder, optional battery grip, and weather sealing over the em10 and penf. The em5 and penf are both a bit easier to customize than the em10. The difference in megapixels is very subtle and I personally wouldn't pay more for that alone. I bought the penf for its classic looks.
@Eti1968
@Eti1968 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, I searched your channel but dit not find a tutorial on HDR function on the OMD EM 10 mark II. What triggers me is the HDR function and the exposure bracketing as explained in this video. Actually they are doing both the same thing but the HDR functions limits you in settings. I would love to see a video on that, moreover since you use it a lot with interior photography.

@RobTrek
@RobTrek 7 жыл бұрын
There are 3rd party programs that are better suited for different workflows. Nik Effects is a free plugin but I don't think it's any better, but comes with a variety of effects other than HDR. Photomatix ($100) is best for working in volume and may produce slightly better output, but it's subtle. There are more, but you'll have to decide based on your workflow and results you want. For casual use, Lightroom is fine. Here's a good list captainkimo.com/hdr-software-review-comparison/

I would like to know what you do with the bracketed pictures once you are in lightroom and why.
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 7 жыл бұрын
The Pen-F allows for several different types of bracketing. The most common is exposure bracketing. Its typically for blending the pictures together to increase the effective dynamic range. If you have Lightroom CC, check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/banCmX18a759msk . For older versions, you'll need a separate plugin or software to merge the photos, such as Photoshop Elements or Nik Effects (free). I may do a video on the various bracketing available on the Pen-F, such as focus bracketing, art bracketing, flash bracketing, etc... and their uses. Thank you for your question!
