Great video by Gavin, we need more like this, Olympus is not very good at highlighting all the amazing features of this camera. As example hold function on custom modes it’s new for me and I watched like 100 reviews already 😊

Thanks Gavin. Is it possible to have the larger Shooting Information Screen be the 1st thing you see when pressing the the SCP button, rather than having to then press the info button info to see it? Or can you swap their order of appearance? I would find the larger SIS more useful, generally. Thanks

Hi Andy, The information screen is only available when using the electronic viewfinder. It only appears first when the camera is set to viewfinder usage (e.g. the display is NOT on Live View). You can also switch to the SCP by clicking the info button. Alternatively, press "OK" to access the SCP settings directly.

Olympus Capture on my PC has two modes, USB and WIFI. With WIFI you can only transfer photos from the camera; USB needs a cable but then tethering is possible. So "wireless tethering" is not working as far as I can see.

I cannot get the enlarged shooting information display to work. When I am in Super Control Panel and press “info” button nothing happens. Can you please tell me what setting I have to change in order for this to work? Thanks!

The Shooting Information Screen is a new feature for the E-M1 Mark iii and can be turned on by pressing the Super Control Panel button (NOT the OK button for Live Super Control Panel), then press the Info button.

​@@GavinHoey On mine that is the LV button, not the ‘Super Control Panel’ button. Riiiiiiiggggghhhhhttt! I’ve worked it out. The Shooting Information Screen (SIS) only works if the EVF Auto-switch function is turned on. I like to use the LV button as a LV/EVF on/off button, so I can’t get the SIS display if the Auto Switch is turned off. IMO it would be better to have the SCP come on if OK is pressed, then press the info button for the SIS. Then have the option via menu to choose if SCP or SIS comes on first when you press OK, and have the ability to turn either off, having, say, just SIS when you press OK.

He would only be able to shoot them with natural light or continuous light as the mode doesn’t work with off camera flash/strobes.

@@charliegreen1989 Spot on Charlie. I believe thee's a way of using Olympus flashes with Tripod Hi-Res (none for hand held hi-res) but the fact it takes multiple images to make one hi-res photo makes it unusable for portrait use... handy for still life shooters I guess.

Does the WiFi tethering work directly with Lightroom or still only via the unusably slow Olympus Workspace?

Hi Hendrik. Wi-Fi tethering uses Olympus Capture (not Olympus Workspace) and can save your files to any folder on your computer. If you set up the Auto Import feature in Lightroom, images will be added as they get saved. If like me you only want to review your images Olympus Workspace as a basic viewer is far FAR faster then Lightroom.

Am I not mistaken that you cannot recharge while shooting? - So, what's the point? Just carry a spare (or two) spare batteries.

I don't think I'd do what Gavin suggests, but for video, running off a powerbank would be awesome. A Smallrig or similar cage so you can screw stuff on, attach a battery, maybe sound recorder, maybe a Ninja V, maybe lights.

The title of the video talks about tips for portraiture and apart from putting face detection there is nothing interesting in this video. It doesn't talk about whether to use AF-C or AF-S, whether to use eye detection or not, whether to use H or L burst mode...in short it didn't help me at all.

Instead carrying a USB powerbank and its cable. And opening the weather sealed doors to plug cable in. And having a camera with battery + cable hanging out through the shoot. ....I take a one extra battery from the bag and switch it in body. Where is the USB powering good feature? Timelapse or long period continuous video recording where you must have camera powered for days if not weeks at the time, inside a weather sealed box. It is not good even in traveling because you can't use your camera when it is charging. And charging camera only at the time when you sleep is very rare thing to do so that you don't end up situation that you are out of power middle of shoot. And traveling so that you place camera inside a bag charging, means that cable will twist and brake your jack in the camera and it is expensive repair. Again, few people whined about USB charging and Olympus was stupid enough to bend to their stupidity.
