Originally a circus song used in Kim Larsen's traveling circus in the mid-1980s, it has since become a popular song for funerals.

Kim Larsen was the one in my and most other people's youth in the 70s. This particular song ended most concerts + was the closing number at most parties with young people, where Kim Larsen was of course the artist that was played the most. Kim Larsen and his former band Gasolin made many, many unforgettable tracks, tracks that are played daily even today.

Other than funerals, this song is also used at graduations or last days of school.

At first (Gasolin) then Kim Larsen and everybody knew, loved him, died 18 months ago, my father, i and my daughter, we all loved him, Sweden, Norway etc. Great artist, i cryed when he died, followed him 45 years, felt like a part of me died

Originally written and used as last song for and in a show called "Cirkus Himmelblå" (Circus blue heaven), and on the record "Forklædt som voksen" (Disguised as a grown up) Often used as a funeral song, including my own mothers funeral back in 1988. Fun fact: Kim Larsen him self hated that is was used as a funeral song, but over time came to accepting it...

Yes efterskole is afterschool. You can take the last year of primary school there. Either 9th grade or the optional 10th grade. This is the non-religious song most often sung at funerals in Denmark. Or at least it was, some years ago.

Definitely a Farewell song. Used to end the show, but these days it is mostly used as a song to say goodbye to loved ones at funerals. It was part of both my grandfathers and fathers funerals. Also efterskole is not really boarding school. It is a step between primary school and secondary school. Quite a lot of youth attend, helping them gain maturity and independence. You can go directly from primary to secondary, but if you are not certain which direction you want for secondary school, a year of efterskole may help. Many of them also have a specific theme. Music, religion, theatre, roleplaying, esport, painting, sports, entrepreneurship, and some with a focus on certain types of students, such as those who are dyslexic or autitistic.

Yes after school (efterskole) is popular in Denmark. Often when the year in the after school is over, we Will Play another song called “De smukke unge mennesker” also by Kim Larsen

I belive all danish have their experinces with this song. We also closed the nightclubs. but also for funerals . Kim Larsen was also educated teacher. It is not a boarding school as those you have in england, it is the 3 last classes of primary school. Where the students live and learn, but also learn to handle life after school. It is not as stricht as your system. We also have something similar for grownups called Højskole, translated High school, but nothing like the Americans High school. You are able to be better in a subject you choose, like writting or painting or gardening. Lik your vlog

Boarding school would be translated as kostskole in Danish and I don't think these are as popular as back in the day. Not sure how to translate efterskole, however, Wiktionary offers this: 1. an optional resident education lasting 1-3 years, taken after grundskole (this would be primary and secondary but not high school), 2: a school offering such an education. I love this song. One of my favourites by Kim Larsen. I would probably but Jutlandia (j = y) on top though.
