Hey Jamie, one huge advantage of having focus bracketing assigned to the lens function button is a long press on the button accesses the focus bracket menu. I focus bracket with the 90mm f3.5, 300mm f4 (butterflies & bees etc), 12-40mm f2.8 (mushrooms & flowers). I need access to the focus bracket menu to adjust the focus steps. I also have a custom mode assigned to focus bracketing but I rarely use it. I nearly always shoot manual auto ISO.

You can bypass moving the top dial by just assigning the front button to C4. To turn it on and off. I set c3 for focus stacking and c4 for focus bracketing. Both assigned to the front buttons.

Also consider the f stop depth of focus when choosing the bracket interval.

Hello jamie, is your speedlight special or has a strobe setting only found on this specific brand? I can't get my flash firing this fast... thx

great 👍 video. ? What do you set the flash zoom to when using the OM 90mm and Diffuser?
@JamieSpensleyАй бұрын
I always set it to the widest angle (lowest number) when using a diffuser

Great video! What are your preferred settings when using focus bracketing?

Evening Jamie. Another very informative video. Thank you. I notice you are now using the Godox 860 rather than the 350. Any particular reason for the change. 😎

Thank you! I bought the v860iii for my 90mm setup because the lens is longer, and a bigger flash would pair nicely with the lens. That's the main reason really. It is a bit more powerful than the v350, but it is hard to notice. If I'm using the 60mm, I much prefer to use the v350

Oh, I use the Godox V1. I find the round head easer to make custom diffusers for. I have a MK diffuser which has fantastic results but I dislike using it because I find it a pain to carry and hard to aim the lens if I am not looking through the viewfinder. Instead I use a Godox soft globe diffuser with a small hard globe diffuser inside that, magnetically attached and modified with sticky foli tape to concentrate flash direction. I find this combination gives me 90% of the results of the AK but my setup is easy to carry in my bag and I can see around my lens to aim. I often go out to do a mix of photography and the AK becomes a pain to carry and deploy. Sorry off point.

Hi Jamie, excellent video on Focus bracketing.....I am assuming you are using MF mode with auto focus (AF) turned on, shutter set for single frame and not sequential ? Thanks

Ich folge dir seit einem Monat, du hast schöne Makrofotos gemacht, meine Frage ist, welche Kamera verwendest du?

Great explanation though beginners may wish to set a lower number than 999 (25 or 50) until you're comfortable with the process. Can you address focus breathing? Seems to be quite noticeable on 60mm > 90 mm and when closer to minimum focus distance.

Hoi Jamie, I like your videos...! I like stacking since summer 2024, I like to learn to use my flash, I see that your flash takes several flashes (20 or more...) but my flash stops after 3 flashes.... Which flash do I need? Or do I have to set that in the Olympus camera? Second question: Can the body OM DE M5 Mark III do the stacking in the field ( so without stacking software) ? I use my new lens M.Zuiko digital ED 90 mm macro 3.5 Pro
@JamieSpensley5 сағат бұрын
Thanks! I would recommend a flash with a lithium ion battery such as the Godox v350o, or the Godox v850iii. The OM DE M5 Mark III should have both focus bracketing and focus stacking in the menus and will work with the 90mm.

Can you hold the camera in your hand while using this feature? Does the stabilization work then?
@johnhall98953 ай бұрын
Just swapped from an EM-1 mark 3 to the OM-1. With the EM-1 it was possible to issign in camera Focus Stacking to a button but that is not possible with the OM-1. A retrograde step OM Systems.
