Grant! I got the EM-1 Mark II this week on a Black Friday sale used for $525. I love it! I can't believe I do, but I do. And yes, Robin still uses it as his main workhorse! Grab one if you can find one and I really think you might enjoy it. Now... the menu system was mind-boggling but 2 hours later :D .... Great topic! I still love Panny boy too.

The Olympus E-M1 Mark II is a truly unique camera. In some aspects, it even surpasses the OM-1. I originally planned to sell it, but after using the OM-1, I found myself missing the image quality of the E-M1 Mark II. Additionally, the handling of the E-M1 Mark II remains the best Olympus has ever brought to market.

Could you elaborate on the differences between the OM-1 and the E-M1 mark II please?

Totally agree with you. Upgraded to an Om1 from the Em1 mkii. I find my self reaching for the Em1mkii more. The dials on the Om1 suck. But low light capabilities are noticeably better on the Om1

Even though I now have the Leica Q3, I still carry my Lumix G9 with the 100-400 zoom at the ready and the 12-60 Leica Panasonic kit lens on standby. There's always an opportunity for micro four thirds. Good list Grant.

G man loving the list. You are not just some guy,you are da man😂 I loved my short lived time G7. It turned out to be my worst Christmas gift to the misses ever ! I read the signs wrong thinking she was going to start a makeup channel. Oh boy was I wrong 😢 I shot with it for a while B4 selling and handing money to the misses and my autonomy on Christmas present choosing. I own the Olympus omd em1 ii. It fits the hand like a latex glove. I don't do video and only own Olympus bodies now. Surprised no Pen F. Great to have you back G man keep um coming

I am not about to declare what I think are the five best MFT cameras are, but the original G9 and the GH5 MII are by far the best that I own, or have owned. They are great cameras. The G85 was my first mirrorless camera after using Nikon apsc dslrs for years. The G85 and its follow-up the G95 are both terrific cameras - I loved them. The GX85 is my #1 street camera. The G100 is very underrated, fun little camera. The only Olympus I have really used, and currently own is the OM-D E-M10 Mark III. And it is a fun EDC camera. I bought that camera (the silver version) mostly for nostalgic reasons. The first "real" camera I ever owned was the original Olympus OM1 slr in the early 70s. That WAS my camera for many a year. The M10 MIII is very close in look and size to that original OM1 - so I love it for those reasons. And it takes great photos and pretty good video. Anyway. I have rambled on too long. Peace.

Wasn't expecting the E-M1 II to be on the list. I almost bought one earlier this year but missed out on an eBay auction, which lead to the purchase of the Pen-F. Would still like to try one out.

I have full frames with a multitude of lenses, but I still have room for MFT when size matters. An older Lumix GX85 is a great walk around camera and an Olympic M1 MKII works well enough when I don't want to lug large lenses around. But sorry mft fans, when it comes to low light, dynamic range, incredible bokeh or if I plan on cropping, there's not much comparison against a high-resolution full frame. My personal choice when I'm getting paid is that the mft gear stays home.

I like the list. The GH5 is probably the most influential MFT camera over all and was very far ahead when it cam out. The EM1-II is the Olympus flagship that kind of shows everything while the EM1-III and OM1 are less revolutionary improvements. The G9 is actually just a GH5-light but still the camera that is the sweet spot for a lot of photographers. The G7 was very interesting, kind of a surprise as a the light and low cost GH4 and it is still sold "new" (unused) here in Germany. G85 was even more the perfect small and light MFT camera if the G9 or GH5 is to much and to expensive also still available (G85 with Lumix 12-60 €599). I would like to see the GM5 as the perfect very small camera in the list, may be also the GX9 and the GH7 because it is the best MFT camera today but then it would be 8 cameras instead of 5.
@Emerald_City_5 күн бұрын
Obviously a very subjective list, why not. I was expecting the GH2 to take a place in the row of fame, but you’re not that old :))) -Just a tip, if you know that you move your hands that much (nothing wrong, I do too) when talking, why not try a longer focal length, works miracles… :)

But what about the... Just kidding. Great list. My list: 1. G9 2. EM5 ii 3. EM1 ii 4. G9 ii 5. GM5 Plus GM1 for being so darn cool. Slight bias to Lumix as you can see. Olympus menu drives me mad. 😅

I’m going to pick cameras not in production. EM1 Mark3 EM5 Mark3 I would have put the G9 on the list but thank god I got the extended warranty. They had to send me three new cameras because of problems. And two of those cameras had to be sent back for service twice. And the 3rd camera front wheel stopped working 1 month after the warranty expired. They wanted 596 dollars to just replace that wheel. Great design, terrible camera. Probably never get Panasonic again unless it’s something really special?
@carmenfissenden253017 күн бұрын
You list is great choice of bodies , but they are all flawed by having the video screen which makes me scream as I only shoot photos ha ha . I wish Olympus kept the EM 1’s as a photographers body . After the EM 1 mki was replaced I have used the EM 10 Mkii and for size and choice of screen , I have not felt the urge to change . Sure, for video it is fair to okay , but that is in good light etc. As a stills camera it works perfectly for travel, street , kids and with one fixed focal length lens and your phone for wide angles , I travel light and rarely miss shots .
