I'm still using the E-M1 Mk I. Yes, the original from 2016 (I think) which I purchased brand new all those years ago and still use. It remains an awesome camera, but getting great wildlife shots does require me to really know what I'm doing when it comes to focusing. This new OM-1 Mk II would be light years ahead, and make that task so much easier. That said, I wonder where all this will end? I suppose the day will come when you will be able to issue whispered voice commands. Perhaps a step too far?! The OM-1 sounds like it might be just about right, feature wise. Good on OM Systems for taking an excellent product and making it better. I do get a little tired of the flash bang everything is new approach of some brands when really you already have 90% of what you need and all you need is some polishing or finessing to take it to 100%. Thank you for your constructive take on this launch. Product development is a long process with some steps that are big changes and others that are smaller. In the end, our ethos has always been to try and help photographers enjoy their passion with innovations that help the process. For some, the challenge is to get a shot that has been impossible in the past even with the best gear. For others it is more contemplative and they my still be happy with something entirely manual. The beauty is we all have choice.

Thanks, Andy, nice review. You haven’t made it easier to ward off another attack of GAS given I’ve had my OM-1 for well less than a year.

Well, a buffer twice the size and improvements to subject tracking are meaningful to me. You do realize that all one generation upgrades in all brands are now small and have been for years? And a new generation OM-1 is not targeted for current OM-1 users, but for those with older cameras, lower tiered cameras, or new buyers. What exactly did you expect after only 2 years from a camera that already does more FPS than 90% of people need, has excellent subject detection, has great pre-capture, industry leading IBIS, industry leading weather sealing? What meaningful updates are you looking for?

have you seen how much improvments GH6 / G9 II Users got in the last few months ? what we got nothing just bug fixes.
