Thanks for the helpful video. I'm trying to decide if this is the right camera for me or not. One correction I would like to add is that you said the TG7's 4x zoom is only digital, but the manufacturer's spec sheet states that it is an optical zoom.

Thank you for this. I have the ZV-1 but I am interested in the TG-7s macro capabilities with its focus bracketing plus the higher zoom range. The toughness of the camera will give me the confidence to put this camera on a long tripod extension for simulated drone shots.

Hi thanks for a great review. I am looking at getting one for street photography in Vancouvers rainy winter but I have a question I hope you can help me with. How fast is the autofocus, do you think it will be fast enough to get faces in-focus in a street shooting environment.

On a mid or low light, it's horrible. It can take 2-5 seconds to adjust the focus. But on a bright scene it's ok. Almost on par with the auto focus of new cell phones

Could you tell me how fast is the auto focus, it needs to be fairly fast for me, like if it cant get focus within the time a person walks a step no so good for me. What are you shooting with it?

Yes, but it's all natural. Nothing like what cellphones does,adding artificial bokeh. So it depends on your shot

No. There's no Full Manual mode. Your option closest to manual mode is A, P, C1 and C2

Really great video on TG7. Apart from Macro and toughness / water proof, I find the camera is lacking in every other department. I find Sony ZV-1 is really good for photo quality, auto focus, except the macro, waterproof.

I haven't used ZV1, but based on other reviews, I would agree with this. Thanks for the inputs. I do prioritize the "proofings" on the TG7, that's why I chose this 👌

Hello and thanks for your video. I have looked everywhere for how big an SD card can be used here in the TG-7. Don't know if you have that information. Have you tried taking pictures underwater with the camera yourself? Is it enough to just rinse the camera in fresh water when you get back to land?

SD Card is discussed in the video. It's the big one... Not microSD. See 6:49 Yes, just rinse with fresh water if you are using it on salt water. Although, generally, I would avoid salt water as much as possible since salt itself can errode the meterials. A quick dip is ok, just rinse with fresh water immediately.

@@ribbytrivia I bought mine specifcally to take family pictures at the beach and snorkling. Is there any casing/jacket that would be good to protect the camera from salt water aside from just rinsing after use. We usually spends hours at the beach, in the water. Thanks.

@@colsceci7959 See 03:34 of the video. There is an underwater housing accessory available. Try to find a generic cheaper version - not sure if there is one, but the generic ones are usually good enough and much cheaper (like JJC products).

I have the tg-6, and disappointed that the new version is still only 12 mp. The reason to get this camera is for durability and it's waterproof, you can literally stick it under water and film (of course, the water has to be clear enough). People comparing it to non-waterproof snap and shoots will be disappointed. You can purchase an additional lens cover, whichnthey really should provide with the camera, assuming tg-6 and tg-7 accessories are interchangeable.

How do you stop the camera zooming in when you switch it on each time

Mine is set to whatever the last zoom I have. It does not zoom in automatically when I open it

Why there is always FHD right on the display instead of 4k? I don‘t have any menu option to switch between video formats.

While on movie mode, you can adjust the settings that you can see in the camera monitor display. It's hard to explain without videos or picture illustrations. I suggest downloading the manual here: download.omsystem.com/pages/inst/tg7/manual_tg7_ENU.pdf Then start at page 31 to understand what the monitor icons means. And the movie settings starts at page 82.

@@ribbytrivia thank you i found it finally. you have to press OK inside the d-pad. I come from so many other brands,.. but i didn't came earlier on the idea, that video mode options are just there.. why do they did not put the resolution inside of the video menu haha.. thank you.

got my TG-7 and i am NOT impressed at all. Poor batery life, many bugs in firmware and still no update. forgets settings when changing battery. glas is not scratchproof at all, every phone is more reliable. its a pain and waste of money. haptics is so lala, you must not wear gloves at all.... etc etc and the list goes on. i am sick i failed on a paid promo fanboy video too.. e.g. when filming.... you hear the autofocus and sensorshift very loud and every video has a scratching noise in the background... somewhat annoying. .... more? you cannot charge while filming. - firmware sometimes delays for a miunte and says 'waiting' ... and so on ... and still no update. om is fooling us.

What country are you from? In my firmware, I can film while charging already. I've shown that in one of my 4 tg7 videos. But I agree on most of your gripes. That's why you should watch a lot of review videos first before buying. As noted in my videos, this is a digicam, which do not have powerful chipsets like cellphones. So there are really a lot of limitations as compared to CP. Many people buy it for the toughness, as the name implies, not as a main photography device. It's more of a device that you'll use if the situation is not safe for a more expensive and valuable devices, like cellphones. If you don't understand the target market of the device and just bought it, then expecting many things from it (e.g. Expecting it to be on a cellphone level in everything), then you would really be disappointed.
