I will add more info here as necessary but.
The short of it is the nissan 240sx came with two types of window switches on the driver side.
There is one that has two relays “amps” mounted on the door and its as easy as replacing the bad amp or switch. In my case the amps/relays are built into my switch.
I have a 1995 Nissan 240sx and my car per the fsm should have the door mounted amp/relays but I have a 1997-1998 door switch instead and no amps.
The fsm does not have the wiring diagram for my car, so this might be a USDM change to the power window wiring.
The aftermarket door switches I got were from ebay. They came with a very easy to follow wiring diagram which also indicated what year car you have. As I suspected, my car somehow has a 1998 chassis harness in it. The 1995 has a L/B (blue/black) instead of Green and a L/W (blue/white) wire instead of solid blue which control the driver side window actuator.

Rather than trying to reverse engineer my factory service manual, just some general logic resolved my issue.
