They still used Roman numerals). Binary number system (again by Pingala). The early concepts of democracy and elections with Janapada and Mahajanapadas during Vedic period. Aryabhatta also invented trigonometry. In fact the sin and cosine functions that we use today in trigonometry are the exact same ones that he defined. He even created sin and cosine tables so people could figure out the sin and cosine values of angles without a calculator. This is also the reason he had to figure out the value of pi. He invented trigonometry to figure out the motions of the planets, which is why he needed a number system which had an arbitrary accuracy, which is why he invented the positional notation system (a.k.a. The decimal system) and zero, so his calculations would make sense. He also figured out negative numbers this way, as they are just the same as normal numbers but in the opposite direction. The Arabic mathematicians who studied him thought that zero and negative numbers were abhorrent, which is why when they figured out the quadratic formula, they had 6 different quadratic formulas instead of the one we know.
