I've been competing in PL for over 12 years. I do nearly all of my training highbar, only a couple lowbars to practice it before a meet, and even in the meet all of my warmups except the last one are highbar. Better for building strength IMO, and much easier on the arms/shoulders/wrists

Coach Brian mentioned working on mobility if you can't maintain a neutral spine at the bottom position of the high bar squat. It may be helpful to hear what he recommends to improve hip/ankle mobility to maintain that neutral spine to safely increase squat depth. Thanks for the videos!

@LHudsonARTLIFTS9 жыл бұрын
There is Olympic style deadlifts wtf are you guys talking about, if you are ignorant to a sport why even bother to have an opinion. They quite often do wide grip and start with their hips very low down whilst keeping very vertical and half of the time the explode and pull the weight up beyond where a typical deadlift ends. Working on the explosive power needed for the snatch etc.

Why not front squat instead of high bar back squat for accessory work. Since we cant load the high bar squat as much as the low bar and the front squat does a better job of increasing knee angle and highlighting the trunk and quads. Not to mention the highbar back squat is not used in any olympic lifts, unlike the front squat. I am just curious as to why one would forgo the obvious superior strength development attained by low bar squatting to chase after a little ankle mobility that anyone can improve with a bit of resistance tubing and time. There are dangers to high bar back squatting. For example beginners will tend to lean forward when they squat and the bar can put tremendous strain on the cervical spine... Maybe I missed some other benefit to high bar squatting.

90% of the info is great but this is a HUGE MISTAKE: descending 3:32 by breaking at the knees first puts A LOT of pressure on them. In a previous video by Omar when he said push your hips back and knees will follow without having to think about them is the way to go.
@AreYouDaft099 жыл бұрын
+Nicolae Spataru But the olympic squat is a knee-break squat. Yes, it does put more torque on the knees but the technique is correct. Breaking at the hips is low-bar. Either way, there shouldn't be a significant time different between your knee and hip bends.
