This is a tidal bore in Kampar River, Riau, Indonesia. This phenomenon happens all year round. The big waves only appear during a full moon and rainy season when the water volume in the river is high. The local calls this wave "Bono" or "Seven Ghost". They used to fear these waves so much. They believed that the waves are caused by seven ghosts, forming seven waves, destroying ships dan sampan sailing in Kampar River. On the other hand, a warrior is also challenged to conquer Bono waves to prove their fighting skills. In 2010, Bono waves become famous among surfer when world surfer Antony Colas and some french surfer tried to ride the wave. The professional surfers also taught youngsters how to surf, dissipating some of the local's fear of these waves. Nowadays this wave becomes one of the best surfing spots in the world. Some surfer tried to break the record of longest surfing in Bono waves, as the waves can travel up to 50km. The government also promotes the Bono waves for attraction and tourism. People will come around to see the Bono waves from nearby.

The one near me in the NW, the Arnside bore on the River Kent (not IN Kent!) happens about 2 hours before a spring high tide when the tide meets the river. It's pretty but fairly insignificant, as the estuary is very flat for many miles, and the water shallow.

Why do I love Indonesia? You know, Mother Nature in this country is the mastermind behind major natural disasters that can hit many countries and cause many fatalities, not just 1 or 100 times, but more than that. I will provide that information. Imagine, in 1 city alone there are at least 100 tourist attractions (In 1 city). It's really crazy, no one knows Indonesia 100%. Because there are so many misunderstandings with tourist attractions in Indonesia. Even the sea in Indonesia has something like the Bermuda Triangle and natural attractions that make no sense. Because when we go to Indonesia the people are confused and have to make plans where we are going. When I was a teenager, at the high school level I always studied and read books about nature in a library located in Europe. I found a book that said "Tambora The Years Without Summer" then also found a book that said "Krakatoa". Both of these books tell about nature and its brutality at the same time. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally. I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) : >Year 2022 = 1.421 (Period Jan - Jun). >Year 2021 = 3,058 >Year 2020 = 2,925 >Year 2019 = 9,375 >Year 2018 = 3,397 >Year 2017 = 2,341 >Year 2016 = 2,342 >Year 2015 = 1,682 Total natural disasters for 8 years = 26.541 (This is the most violent, brutal and deadly category in the world because of calculations in 1 country, not Chile/Japan). I give a description of just one example of a strange place in Indonesia (There are still many that you can find). Imagine that in Indonesia there are more than 262 waterfalls (from an estimated 1000 waterfalls in Indonesia) whose shapes are really cool, different, multilevel and unique. My friend asked : "Which waterfalls from this country did you visit?". I answered : "This is all in one country, namely Indonesia". My friend reaction : "It is impossible for this many waterfalls with different shapes and some are even strange to only exist in 1 country". Me : "The nature there is very crazy which is formed from a big natural disaster, just imagine a waterfall above a volcano and a waterfall on the beach". Is it just about waterfalls? Oh no, there are so many other things that are strange and difficult to explain in Indonesia. I became very interested in the history recorded by the International and finally I bought a textbook on natural disasters in Indonesia written by European researchers, scientists and historians. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history. That is nature in Indonesia, it has very different class categories. If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions. Maybe I will come back again in 2024 to visit 109 tourist attractions, I have to save first. List of natural tourist attractions in Indonesia that I have visited. 1). Krakatoa. 2). Tambora. 3). Aceh Museum Tsunami 2004. 4). Weh Island. 5). Lematang Lampung. 6). Ranau. 7). Anyer. 8). Ujung Kulon. 9). Lancang Island Jakarta. 10). Rian North Kalimantan. 11). Yellow Land. (I forgot this name). 12). Mesas Cave. 13). Gamalama. 14). Sulamadaha. 15). Ngurtafur. 16). Kupang. 17). Bali Island. 18). Karang Bolong. 19). Setu Babakan. 20). Bangkalan Madura Island. 21). Limboto. 22). Saronde Island. 23). Bogani Nani Wartabone. 24). Arfak Papua. 26). Jomblang Cave. 27). Karang Taraje Sawarna. 28). Lito Duyonumo. 29). Tammasapi. 30). Dukono. 31). Tonjong Canyon. 32). Curug Badak. 33). Kyura River. 34). Alif Stone Park. 35). Bono Wave. 36). Banyuwangi. 37). Halmahera. 38). Serang Banten. 39). Banda Neira Maluku. 40). Lakey Beach. 41). Puncak Bogor. 43). Mangku Kodek. 42). And Others (Up to 51 natural attractions, because I forgot the names). But that's all only 2% of all tourist attractions in Indonesia, it's very crazy. If you go to Indonesia to at least visit 30 natural attractions and prepare extra money and a healthy body condition, then you will find that Indonesia has a very different class. Going to Indonesia is better to explore, adventure and learn. Not just a vacation or honeymoon, you will lose if it is only for a vacation or honeymoon. Trust me, I'm typing all this because I've experienced it myself. Indonesia is like a giant playground where we are the players in it. Even when I told my experience to Indonesia to my son, his reaction was "Could there be such a place in the world? It's like a place for witches in a movie series". Indonesia is a complete and very diverse tour package in large quantities. Even on trains, buses, airplanes, and ships, you can see different views from one country. It's really crazy, like going to another country but still in the same country. Imagine in 1 city and even then there are many tourist attractions. What about Indonesia as a whole? Millions of tourist attractions. Therefore, many people misunderstand tourism in Indonesia because it is too much and varied. Then you will find something unique and strange, at least go on 30 different trips to tourist attractions in Indonesia and I am sure you will have a much more extraordinary experience and lasting memories. List of places I want to visit in 2024 in Indonesia : 1). Mature Kaladan. 2). Kikik Waterfall. 3). Haratai Loksado Waterfall. 4). Liang Tapah. 5). Kakaban Island. 6). Gitgit Waterfall. 7). Canggu. 8). Nusa Dua. 9). Batu Lawang. 10). Setu Patok. 11). Setu Sedong. 12). Mangroves Jakarta. 13). Bengkulu Mangroves. 14). Bukit Kaba. 15). Way Hawang Bengkulu. 16). Waisia Waterfall. 17). Bair Island. 18). Mahawu. 19). Kaliadem Yogyakarta. 20). Lemona Tasikmalaya. 21). Bukit Raya Kalimantan. 22). Toba. 23). Semeru. 24). Komodo Island. 25). Curug Parigi. 26). Pacitan. 27). Bangka Belitung. 28). Batam. 29). Labuan Bajo. 30). Sianok Canyon. 31). Meru Betiri. 32). Sentani. 33). Wafsarak Waterfall. 34). Wasur. 35). Bihewa Nabire Waterfall. 36). Kali Kaca. 37). Kali Suci. 38). Api Abadi Madura Island. 39). Kaolin Belitung. (And the remaining 109 natural attractions I have not applied, because I am still looking for information on which tourist attractions I will visit in 2024). You can check the photos of the places I mentioned on Google, the natural attractions in Indonesia are crazy. Did you know if we look at the map of the Indonesia territory, it's like a person / Jinn who sleeps on his back. Sumatra : Feet. Kalimantan : Stomach. Jawa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara : Spine. Sulawesi : Bosom. Maluku : Neck. Papua : Head. Other small islands : Acne. Not only that, Indonesia has more than 500 volcanoes = Active, inactive and underwater. (Overall). QUEEN MOTHER NATURE IN INDONESIA 10/10 (Mother Nature in Indonesia when viewed 100% is very colossal). Nature in Indonesia is really insane very different class categories, there is a saying that says : "The more beautiful you look, the more dangerous you are". (Indonesia is the throne Queen Mother Nature). There is even a study that has visited 400 tourist attractions in Indonesia and it is only 10% for him. Tourist attractions in Indonesia are predicted to be more than 4,800,000 Understandably, from Sabang Sumatera to Merauke Papua (in 1 country) is expensive and long distance. It costs the same as you flying from Mexico to Argentina or Egypt to Dubai or Jakarta to South Korea or Spain to Belarus or India to Turkey or Maldives to Mongolia. Indonesia was originally not an archipelago but a mainland called SUNDALAND (Western side of Indonesia) and SAHULLAND (Eastern side of Indonesia). However, 70% of the land was sunk into the ocean. Important note : Always be extra careful when visiting nature in Indonesia, I am talking about nature because recently a foreign tourist died at the Mount Batur in Bali. That's not all that happened, I just gave one example. Remember, nature in Indonesia has 2 different sides at once. If these 2 sides are combined it will be "DEADLY BEAUTY". The depiction of nature in Indonesia is like a big Queen who has the most beautiful, strange, unique, diverse, interesting and legendary forms. However, if the Queen Mother Nature in this country awakens from her slumber, then there will be unforgiving brutality against anyone in its path, it will cause a lot of damage, loss of life and can even have an impact on other countries. Indonesia is HEAVEN and HELL which collide with each other simultaneously. Has 2 different sides, representing real life. Traveling to Indonesia is not just about a relaxing and exciting travel experience, it is much deeper and more than that. You can even feel disappointed, emotional, confused, sad, tired, give up, smile, laugh, afraid, goosebumps, satisfied and others at the same time. Traveling to Indonesia, you will also feel the little things while in Indonesia. It's not just about happiness or something exciting, but something you don't know and don't expect. More than amazing, extraordinary, beautiful and cool. Category Indonesia is "absolutely insane". (One above all).

It’s amazing every time I watch videos like that there’s always a group of people that’s standing right there watching it! I saw even the beginning of a wave coming towards me I’ll be running for high ground or in my car driving away as fast as I could not standing there waiting. And yet there was some kind of warning sound and yet people are still standing there. I don’t get it! Watch every video that has waves coming into the shore or a tsunami... and people just stand there and stare at it!

I'm sure this is a tidal boar, not a tsunami. The people look familiar with what's happening and there's a bund to hold it back (mostly!). You're right though, watching so near to it is foolish and boars can be unpredictable.
