OMC King cobra outdrive removal...

I picked up this boat off from craigslist for $250 and was told that it ran but after trying to turn the motors over by hand I found out that one of motors were completly rusted up so I will be pulling them both out along with the outdrives to teardown and complely gone through. In this video I will show you how easy it is to pull off a King cobra outdrive on a I/O boat. Let me tell you how happy I am that I found this video. My boat has been down for about a year because it has a bent prop shaft and I need to take the lower unit off and ship it to a repair shop in Michigan. I’ve been super busy but I’ve also been kind of daunted by this. I am mechanically inclined on cars and motorcycles but I admittedly don’t know shit about boats and the idea of taking a piece of the boat motor off kind of intimidated me. Now that I see this video it’s coming off tomorrow. Thank you so much for making this.

I been learning alot to.Just a minor correction the exhaust comes out around the prop.Also the exhaust bellows has holes in it at the bottom.This is where the water also finds its way out.Just learned that today.However the point you had labeled the exhaust exit is actually the water inlet.This is where you hook up the muffs to run the motor out of the water.Keep learning.I am almost ready to tackle the lower outdrive replacement and upper inspection gimbal bellows shift cable and pivot housing r and r.

I thought the exhaust comes out of the prop like mine. Those are water inlets, with the screens on them, but otherwise I appreciate the video. I accidentally removed the do not remove bolt on the side and now I guess I have to pull it. anyways Thanks

I think you better do your homework.... it IS a King Cobra, look at the bottom fin how it is smaller then the regular cobra and also it set back further, its also a dog clutch style and OMC DID NOT put a reg cobra drive on a 460 big block.......
