What a wonderful watch. I owned one in the mid to late sixties. It was an automatic. I changed to a steel bracelet as the leather ones wore out.

This is one of my favourite vintage Omega, that dial is stunning! I love the querky stile of the '60/70. The construction of the caseback always interestd me and of course the protagonist is the sector dial !

Very nice. Although they made many of these watches, it is not easy finding an example in good condition and with the dial you want. Very often the dials are corroded and the hands might have been repainted. The original finish on the case is a coarse brushed finish (adoucissage). This tends to have been polished away. The only Dynamics that had a polished case were the MK2 models.

@@FrenchWatchCollector Oh dear. Now I'm going to have to think carefully. I've done a little research on the Dynamic and seen that there are many pleasing variations. Including the one you have on offer. I'm a complete novice to this area and suddenly I'm spoiled for choice.

Lovely video and very helpful. I am just starting out in watch repair and one of my upcoming projects is a manual wind dynamic that I bought new in 1969 in Vietnam. It is a calibre 601 which is basically the same as the the 613 in the video but without the date complication. It even has the recess for the wheel on the dial side.

Do you use a diagram to help you reassemble the watch after cleaning ? Or do you have so much experience that you can quickly determine what goes where ? Maybe easier with this movement compared to e.g. a chronograph complication ?

You can buy sapphire crystal on cousin UK or other suppliers but it will be very hard to find the right one unfortunately

Very well done! Good luck with your channel! I have never seen a Dynamic with a manual wind movement. Very cool! I have one of these models. It has an automatic movement but I don’t know what caliber it is. And I don’t know what year it is either. Sadly, I don’t have the tools or expertise to open it. Front-opening can be tricky and I don’t want to damage it. It’s a date model as well. Would you know what automatic movements were put into the Omega Dynamics? Thank you!

It is difficult to say without seeing the watch but there are some watches with the cal 552 and 601. There is maybe even more dynamic with a different automatic movement. The manual are the first dynamic watches. The automatic version came later on.

You are right at the beginning I was not wearing finger coats all the time. I learned my lesson as you are not the first one to give me this feedback. On the latest projects I put finger coats all the time.

Why do Omega movements have that coppery color? What are they made from?

I don’t know why they have this color. They probably use a different coating but I don’t know what it is.

@@FrenchWatchCollector I looked this up. The coating is called rose gold or pink gold. One metallurgist analyzed it and found no gold. Apparently it's just copper.
