Great review. I have the 4.5. Got that instead of the original moon watch because in addition to the chronograph I wanted automatic with day and date. I got all that with an extra bonus of 24 hr hand which I didn’t expect. The watch is now in Switzerland being serviced. Of my 200 watches, this is one of my favorites.

great video! appreciate the information and brief history. I just received my 4.5 which was passed down to me by a family member who had quite a unique story about the watch. im going to cherish it and pass it down to my son.

My watch came back from service by Omega Bienne. Great work, like new! even all plastic parts from the 1045 are replaced. I bought mine in 1982.

is it ok for the minute chronograph hand to advance to the next minute when the seconds chronograph hand reaches 30-35? Or when can I read or watch more on this behaviour?
@InterestingWatches2 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry to say that isn’t the way it should be working. At the very least, the hands would need to be removed and reset.

@@InterestingWatches I have watched some other videos and they exhibit the same. Can you send a video reference for this?

You are saying the minute chronograph hand should advance to next minute when the seconds chronograph hand passes 0?
@InterestingWatches2 жыл бұрын
I just checked on my serviced watch. I will try to upload a video later today.

Yes. Otherwise it’s misaligned. It’s the same thing when you occasionally see a misaligned hour/minute hand on a watch. It usually (but not always) means that it wasn’t reassembled carefully.

I own both and enjoy both...definitely keepers, hugely undervalued on the current market.

how can you spot a watch with the hands replaced? e.g tritium vs luminova? Do you recommend this watch on the Omega bracelet or a strap?
@InterestingWatches2 жыл бұрын
Replacement luminova hands will glow for a long time after being exposed to light. Tritium hands won’t.

“not that collectable” has certainly changed now in 2021. Cheapest 4.5 with day wheel in English on Chrono 24 is $2500 no b/p and up to $6000 with original box.

Wow, the vintage Omega market has changed so much. These was were so cheap in the early ‘00s.

love the strap, any more info?

Thanks. It’s an old gas gas bones strap. Gasgasbones.com

I WISH they'd re-issue some of these cool watches from the 1970's, also the oval-shaped Omega Dynamic!!
@InterestingWatches6 жыл бұрын
Be careful what you wish for. They re-released the Mark II Speedmaster a while ago for about 6k with a co-axial movement and glow in the dark (!?!?) tachymeter.
@TheSpritz06 жыл бұрын
@@InterestingWatches I'm new to the watch game, so I never saw the re-release but if they re-issued the Dynamic I would HOPE it would be less than 6K!!!
@InterestingWatches6 жыл бұрын
Pretty unlikely with modern Omega. The vintage ones are usually nicer and cheaper, in my experience. Incidentally, the dynamic name was brought back a while ago, but did not include the funky ‘70s designs.

@@InterestingWatches Yep they just re-issued the round dial models...
@coffeeisgood1023 жыл бұрын
My 4.5 was serviced in Switzerland last year. Omega replaced the movement instead of repairing it as it was too far gone. They also replaced the dial, hands, crown, etc. The only part not changed was the case and screw-down case-back. When I got it back (it took 7 months) it had hacking and 28.8 hz escapement. It is now extremely hard to hear it tick, whereas on the original movement the tick was relatively loud and nice to listen to but a lot slower. Also, it has hacking, which I don’t recall the original movement sporting. I had bought the watch brand new in 1983 and it broke in 1990, so it sat around for over 30 years so I can’t remember if it had hacking. If you know if the original 1045 was hacking please let me know. It would be interesting to know if that was an upgrade, or something I forgot about.
@InterestingWatches3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The 1045 is a hacking movement, and mine hacks as well. I’ve not been able to find any evidence of there being a non hacking version. Also, in my experience, it’s pretty quiet for an automatic chronograph.
@coffeeisgood1023 жыл бұрын
@@InterestingWatches Thanks for responding. This tells me my movement is an exact replacement of the original. It also tells me my ears are not what they used to be!
There is also the so called grail Speedmaster with the 5100 in the moon watch style case which for whatever reason fetches thousands, or did last time I looked.

It’s a strange phenomenon - famous Omega cased watches tend to be very desirable when obscure movements/dials are in them. Another example is the Seamaster 300 cased* Eberhard Scafograf 300 from the 60s. *looks very similar - not sure if it’s from the same factory.
