The main purpose of a watch with stopwatch complications is legibility in any light condition. And the Speedmaster is in that regard on the top. It doesn't matter if it 12:00h and the sun is shooting at the dial or dusk you will be able to read time.

I get it! I have an 1861 Speedmaster and a Speedmaster Moonphase (which I am selling - more on that later). I walked into a boutique on Friday - the day I retired and bought the White 3861. I wore my older Speedy to that appointment and boy, I am glad I did. The boutique manager comped me a full service on my 1861 as part of the purchase of the new one. So I walked in waering a 2005 model, and walked out wearing the new white 3861 - and my old one went to Omega for a full service! I was treated VERY well! Oh, why am I selling the moonphase? To help pay for the 3861! LOL And yes, I have an Aqua Terra, a Seamaster SMP300 Ceramic, a Racing, Tudor GMT Pepsi, Hamiltons, a Ball and others - what gets the most wrist time? The Speedmaster - and now the White Speedmaster!

I love what you're saying man. I've owned close to a dozen Speedies in the last 1.5 decades. It's a watch that I can never not have in my collection, and I love my current 3572 version. But I've worn my PAM 915 about 10 times more than any Speedy I've ever owned. So for me it's actually kind of the reverse of what you're saying.

I have the sapphire version. That bracelet does look cool on it. I also have a black Omega nato strap that it looks really great on for a more utilitarian look. Aside from 2 Casios, it is my only watch. Will definitely add more eventually, but for now, I certainly don’t mind!

Just got the sapphire Speedy last weekend. Had to finance it and make some sacrifices to pay for a while, but I had been waiting for a specific moment to finally happen for 24 year before getting it; having a fast enough time to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Been an Omega fan for decades though, even if I’ve only had one other that I bought new back in 2001; a Seamaster 300M. These watches aren’t necessarily about convenience. They’re not battery operated, you need to wind them, and with me I find myself being HYPER aware and careful when wearing them as to not scratch or damage them even in the tiniest way. But convenience or being able to be lackadaisical when wearing these watches isn’t the point. It’s the craftsmanship, attention to fine detail and precision, history, and elegance. Almost like savoring a good meal instead of shoveling it into your mouth, taking your time with a good cigar, or stopping to appreciate a beautiful place in nature, wearing a fine mechanical watch is similar. Even preferring Omega as the more recognizable luxury watch brands go, there is at least one Rolex that has been on my list too; the GMT Master II with red/blue bezel. I’ve always loved aviation and history, and it’s the watch that most professional pilots wore during the golden age of jet travel, and was the preferred watch of Pan Am. They’re even more gorgeous watches with today’s version too. But yes, generally speaking a person with multiple Rolexes typifies a different character of a person. I’d also love to own watches from brands like A. Lange & Söhne, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe, but those brands are such a huge jump price-wise, like the difference between an Audi and a Rolls-Royce, that’s it’s pretty unlikely that I’ll ever own one. But I can dream.

I own the sapphire 3861 too. Absolutely love it. But I realized I like to wear something else for different occasions - work vs. weekends, day vs. evening, modern vs. vintage. My tiny collection of two chrono and two dive watches can pretty much take care of them all.

The service cost compared to a 775x movement is absurd. It's about as expensive to service a speedy as it is an AP offshore. The speedy is 8k retail the offshore is 30k retail.

The bracelet was purchased from Omega Ad as a separate part for 1K $, the bracelet is a flat link bracelet from a 2023 omega speedmaster 57 and will only fit Omega Speedmaster professional 3861 I made a whole video about it on this channel for you guys plus included cheaper alternatives.

I own an omega speedy w OG hexalite and manual winding movement and I rarely wear it since I need to wind it, but somehow I don’t feel confident wearing it everyday. Feels like if I wind it daily the moment won’t last that long…lol

Winding a watch is like driving a manual transmission car. It's about the engagement. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a daily wear especially if you need the date. Nevertheless, there's no rotor noise and the wind will last almost as long as an automatic that's not on a winder.

I have a 21 SS, as well as other watches, but im sorry, the plastic hands kill me. They look so out place in an otherwise awesome timepiece. Its like you can see the plastic hands its were they decided to cut corners, compared to Rolex for example. The added metal in the hands for me makes a huge difference.

the Speedmasters manual wind drove me nuts.. the crown doesnt descent enough from the crown guard and the windig is so annyoing. IT IS the best chronograph for the Price and an epic History milestone.. it also is the best lookint chronograph.. the windig & the tachymeter scratches easily.. are my only negative points

From my experience I can give better answers, why you will hate it because I know the watch well and sold it: 1. Your fingers will hurt everytime you wind the watch, especially between the 60-80th wind, when the spring starts to get tighter. 2. It's so annoying to set the time every day or max two days, since the mechanism 3861 is max 40h aprox. 3. My sapphire sandwich steel band didint have an adjustment to make it bigger (I believe the newer ones have) 4. You will only meet omega owners who think omega is better than every other brand in the world, especially better than rolex. This will start to suck cause omega owners allways know everything better then others (personality issues) and I just dont want to belong to these kind of people. 5. It's nothing special, eventhough it has a great history, swatch almost killed the history with the plastic watches. You would think that some of these omeswatches are even more special than your speedy since they are more rare. I dare to say that you will never like the watch for anything else but its looks. Its probably the most beautiful watch, however it's a pain to live with. Oh did I mention the wrist hair which always stuck in the breaclet, it fucking hurts, never mind, who wants this watch will buy it anyways and will not give a damn what I just wrote eventough its the real deal
