So, first off, thanks for your patience. I wasn't sure if we'd even get the clear before our usual holiday break and it was up in the air how much time I'd have to edit with the new addition to our family at the beginning of the month (She's doing very well btw). But through long nights of prog, dirty diapers, and a cold that slammed me these past few days, it's out just in time for Christmas! I was intending to take more of a break to be with my family during the holidays, but I couldn't fully relax without getting this done first. My wife, Jessica (aka Yuni) doubled down on mama duty with both Ari and Adelynn to give me the extra time I needed to get this done and I couldn't be grateful enough to her for that. Love ya, hon! That being said, I will be taking the next 2-3 weeks off completely. There may be a stream here or there (twitch.tv/drakanous), but I definitely need to be with my family full time for a bit. It won't delay the raid content any as we only just started O12S and won't be clearing that for a long while still. I know most of you who truly care about the channel won't hold it against me either way, but I wanted to give a fair heads up. If this is the first time you're hearing any of this, I've been using Twitter (@drakanous), my Twitch streams, my Discord channels (the Patreon one more than the general admittedly, general being discord.gg/FEsYzeY) as well as the community page here on my KZbin channel (kzbin.infocommunity). I tried to include them in videos as well, but I know there's only a select few who watch my content outside of FFXIV stuff, but it's the FFXIV that takes the longest to produce and what usually gets held up by the hangups I'm trying to communicate in the first place, lol. Plot twist: Larry's mom actually wasn't entirely wrong. Babies do have gill-like structures really early in development; it is just that they disappear very quickly by the time a baby actually develops into something that looks like a human child (and is distinguishable from a chicken or a turtle)

Funny story about that gill thing... They don't _actually_ have them, but babies _do_ have structures (pharyngeal arches) which strongly resemble gill slits at an early state of development; in fact, in early development the embryo will display a number of features that resemble more "primitive" forms of life. It's actually rather interesting; googling the phrase "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" should pull up plenty more on the subject if you're interested. (Larry's mom _probably_ vaguely remembered hearing this stuff in lowbie biology classes in her own schooling which is probably why she told him they had gills.)

What a nice thing to wake up to this Christmas morning. And yeah, melee this tier have a rough time. I was going to be MNK for my group, but then we all sat down and agreed I could go on SAM. One reason being it's the most ping friendly Job in the game and the other being that missing positionals for SAM is losing 5 extra Kenki every 2-3 GCD's and not potency every GCD.

Just saying I honestly enjoy the challenge of hitting positionals with monk as it makes me feels like I'm doing a deadly yet delightful dance. But congrats for your clear of a11 ultimate (XP) and you new little one. First of all, thanks! About positionals, your stance is usually the one I hear most often. If people find it challenging I can't really argue. To each their own. But for me, hitting positionals normally isn't hard to do, but when mechanics require you to stack with your group or wipe, it's just impossible to get them off. Difficulty has nothing to do with it at that point which is my frustration with this tier. It's either the group caters specifically to melee-DPS with mechanic positioning (which may or may not even be possible at times like the ice floor in O10S, you get flank or rear, not both) or melee get hosed. This tier is especially bad about it, to the point where top groups flat say "melee dps suck" or something to that effect. For dungeons and stuff positionals are fine. When we get into raid content, however, where standing in the wrong spot can and will kill you and/or people around you, it's a big problem to me. I personally prefer more mechanics over positionals, but I don't like my damage being punished for doing the fight correctly, ya know?

Perhaps when they revamp role actions coming up True North becomes more handy cause while I understand the frustration of having damage reduced by missed positionals I don't want square to get rid of them all together at least in monk's case. Samurai I could see losing positionals and being fine since it was only ever useful until you reached 62 (where the amount of actions that grant kenki made the bonus from positionals moot) but hang in there my brother in the way of the fist soon we shall rise once again. After all we're the hardiest of the melee dps (seriously I survived being no 1 on aggro when both warriors in my run of O5S died to the tank buster it was amazing.) Also I'd like to see Square use something akin to Samurai's Hagakure skill for monks (in the sense we give up a full set of chakra to gain 3 stacks of GL) for those times when even the best monk would see their stacks go away (given that riddle of earth's refresh for the timer only happens if we get hit.) But do take care and congrats again on the new little one and thanks for replying. Always nice to get input from someone who understands monk basics =3 and here's to becoming the warriors of darkness come shadowbringer
