To the people thinking you'll "need' this eventually: if you have lightning fast reaction time already then you MIGHT see a minimal difference in gameplay, but a character popping up on screen for a few nanoseconds is not gonna change the outcome. Even 240 is overkill. If youre already on 144 or 165 you dont "need" more than that. And going higher and higher is just gonna be a waste of money. "Every advantage counts" is true but the specific timing is so short and unnoticeable that it will likely make no difference in a wide majority of situations. Still cool to look at the smoothness and realism though.

@andreamaral972516 сағат бұрын
@@anonhikiYour reaction time is definitely not 140ms, the fastest reaction times on the planet by F1 players are 200ms, your average human is getting 300ms-400ms, with training and competitive gaming constantly maybe 250-270ms. And also your reaction time won't change because of your monitor, that's YOUR reaction time, not your monitors. If you tested your reaction time and got 140ms you pre-clicked even if not on purpose, 140ms is physically impossible.

@@bozhidardimitrov3573 theorically, if you does not have that high FPS number and gsync/Freesync are enabled, yes. With Gsync-freesync enabled, it is useful to have high refresh rate, but it is like "I need a fast car to use all my horse power to go at the best 100km/h" while there are other solutions for that case scenario. In real life, Gsync/Freesync add 3 to nothing milliseconds of delay... The question is "can you tell the difference"? That's a lot complicated and depend on if you're trained or not. Also, the real test should be a REAL BLIND test, not someone saying "it seems better to me". Linus tech tips did a test and yes, 240hz can help a pro pro gamer in real life tests. BUT, like he said, you need at least more than 300fps for this monitor... Also FPS is not everything in gaming sessions, because 1% low can be a huge pain, so... If anyone doesn’t know, your fps ties in with the hz. You’d have to be running 500+ fps to get that 500+ hz
@CD-vb9fi Жыл бұрын
it's not that simple... a 500+ Hz monitor can match up with your 120 fps BETTER than a 240 monitor can. This means that this superfast monitor will "catch" frames between frames that a 240 Hz cannot catch. Frames are not steady they go up and the go down... sometimes way up or way down. The faster the Monitor is the larger "range" it has for drawing an image without the problems that come from a monitor that 1/2 way through drawing a frame when it gets told to start drawing a new image. There are other benefits as well... such as allowing the monitor to do extra work in between frames to improve image here and there. To be honest, I would really like to see a monitor that does it's own AntiAliasing in post processing so that it can be of loaded from the graphics card. If you want the most advanced and realistic looking and responsive images... we should have processing at the CPU, GPU, and Monitor processing stages each handling the features that compliment it the most!
@kiqo9128 Жыл бұрын
@@CD-vb9fi Actually, the lower your fps from your monitors refresh rate the more input lag you experience. Having a monitor that does 540hz but only getting between 100-200 is gonna result in major input lag. Only way around this is by having to cap the refresh rate between games and the average fps they get. But by doing this, you're never going to have a consistent experience since you'll always be changing refresh rate, depending on the amount of games you play.
@CD-vb9fi Жыл бұрын
@@kiqo9128 no... that is not input lag. "Input Lag" is specifically the time it takes for the system to "render image and transmit it" plus the time it takes for the monitor "to display said image". Your "input lag" as a human also includes your ability to mentally "process" what you are seeing on a screen and then respond so it. Additionally, how fast your keyboard and mouse can send your key presses and clicks account for some of that "input lag" as well. A person 'technically' can have greater input lag with 120 fps than someone playing at 30 fps. Now, with all of that said... there is still some truth to what you say, but only because the more frames being drawn allows for more opportunities to respond due to "more information" being available". But FPS is NOT directly correlated to Input Lag... they are entirely separate from each other and are two different computational concepts. There is "Lag", "Input Lag", and "FPS". Lag and FPS are relational as one can affect the other... but "Input Lag" is separate from "FPS". Lag can affect both "Input Lag" and "FPS" by virtue of it being involved with both because "lag" in general is caused by "processing lag" but it sits between "input and output".

For everyone minus professional esports players I'd always recommend a better picture over extremely high refresh rate, beyond 180hz you're limited by your reaction time, you won't see an improvement to your game besides a smoother feel to it. Honestly high ppi and good contrast would be better than spending so much for high hz. I think the biggest thing to actually pay attention to is the latency, mouse and keyboard latency to be specific, if you get that to minimal numbers that's when you'll see and feel a bigger difference than 240-540hz.

This is like the only application where such display would make sense to exist. However even then for the foreseeable future (like 20 years) it will be a choice between high refresh rate and good graphics. @MsHojat Жыл бұрын
@@scarecrow5848 they are not necessarily talking about the present, but the future. Also keep in mind that things like Asynchronous Space Warp, FidelityFX Super Resolution, Deep Learning Super Sampling, and more primitive (or alternate) interpolation techniques can all offer much smoother content to a display than the GPU outputs itself. With time and the available hardware it could be a major component in getting smooth VR. That being said, around 240 Hz displays are probably quite sufficient as well even for VR, but if anything was to use higher than 240 Hz it would be VR.

You have to double the framerate to halve the motion blur, so something like 170 to 360 is only a decent upgrade, but also beyond 200hz, usually the LCD panel itself is the major limiting factor instead of the refresh rate. OLED solves this so there's no point going above 240 on an LCD, just use pulser backlight at high fps or a few down from maximum. If you see artifacts of double images at highest refresh rate, you know it's well limited by the panel speed. OLED doesn't have any of that. Use a lower HZ and higher vertical total custom resolution for same pixel clock to get maximum refresh speed at lower hz

It's not only seeable by slowing... they had to slow it because shorts are 30Hz and most people don't have 540Hz monitors. You might be too noob to notice it in real time but any competitive gamer can.

@@nallen.9434 well, the difference shows as smoothness of the image and ability to track objects better. So i dont doubt people saying there is a difference between 240 to 540.

@@theblitz1687 I appreciate your answer and I can say you're right. Just think I've boosted my monitor refresh rate from 60Hz to 75Hz and that was more enjoyable. Yes, you can see / feel the difference between 144 / 165 / 240 / 280Hz. But much more? I think yes, a little bit. But think about what improvement will have your gameplay experience on 540Hz from 300Hz compared to 280Hz from 144Hz. I want to say that it's all about how big the difference will be (not in numbers) and I don't think it worth for the moment. It's too expensive for such a little difference, almost 0. Don't go over 300Hz for the moment, this is my opinion, only if you are an enthusiast.

Never not funny to see people give negative opinions on screens past 144hz because they either can't afford it or are still low rank in the games they play after buying a 400hz monitor and blame the hardware so they sell it and downgrade 😂 used to be "uhhhh only 144hz is worth it🤓" but somehow people have moved goalposts to "240hz is entry level" when they used to shit on 240hz 😂
@jakehalle3697 Жыл бұрын
The reason why jumping from 240 hz to 360 hz isn't that different is because 360 is only 120hz higher while 60 to 144 you can feel it heavily because it's more than half, so 240hz to 540hz you would feel it greatly also and get benefits
@RemedieX Жыл бұрын
@@fuckERLa People didn't "shit" on 240hz, there were several good reasons why it was simply a bad investment, especially early into their introduction, they simply weren't worth the diminishing returns. It's also not "entry level," even in present day, and won't be for a very long time - you made that up. Look, I'll let ai educate you: 240Hz monitors were not necessarily worse than 144Hz monitors when they were first introduced, but they did have some drawbacks. For example, they were more expensive, they required more powerful hardware to run at high frame rates, they had limited availability and *compatibility,* and they had diminishing returns in terms of noticeable improvement over 144Hz. Over time, 240Hz monitors have become more affordable, more accessible, and more advanced, with better response times, lower input lag, and higher resolutions. However, they are still not essential for most gamers, as 144Hz monitors can provide a sufficient and satisfying gaming experience for most scenarios. 240Hz monitors are mainly aimed at competitive and professional gamers who want to gain a slight edge over their opponents and who can afford and maintain the necessary hardware. It's best to do some research or at least, bare minimum, ask AI a simple question before cementing the misinformation you'll spread online.
