A guess is a Basque Burnt Cheesecake, created in Bar La Viña in Donostia/San Sebastián, in the Spanish side of the Basque Country. The name of the place, La Maritxu, confirms the origin of this dessert.

I tried that place the first week it opened last year. Really tasty cheesecake, my only issue it wasn't like a cheesecake as it was quite wet and hard to eat. I should've got a spoon. Still a really good place though.

HI Darren I really like your build up to trying this Cheesecake but felt disappointed. Yes I love Cheesecake but sorry it just looked like cream with a caramel topping. I prefer mine with a biscuit base and a lot solid. I would say that if you brought on a hot day once outside this would melt. Glad you enjoyed it anyway.
