Watching this reminded me of The Odd Spot Cafe which was at the top of East Street, Bromley, Kent (my town of birth). It is/was opposite Bromley North railway station and had a large bus terminus, and the crews loved the cafe. It had two huge griddles serving bacon, eggs, sausage, squeak, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, fried bread, and mugs (not cups) of tea. It also did a mixed grill with kidney and pork/lamb chop on request. The bread was freshly baked by a local family bakery called Maunders opposite where I lived in the Market Square (sadly now gone). I had a Saturday job in a local carpet shop, and one of my jobs was to get the staff elevenses. This was mainly from the cafe because after 11am they would do a breakfast sandwich for 30 pence each (1975/6) and you could have as much in the sandwich as you wanted, as the staff needed to use up the unsold breakfast fare. Memories, sweet sweet memories.

Great Video my friend, Billingsgate was a breakfast stop for me and my colleagues when we were working for London Underground on night shift... But the "3 am one stop" for railway workers, "women of the night" and coppers, is the Bagel Shop in Brick Lane. When I was visiting there, there were two next to each other... one jam packed with people (mostly wearing full orange workwear) and the other hardly anyone! Salt Beef and Mustard and a cup of tea that the spoon will stand up in. If you want another early morning, go look!!

Bacon roll with scallops, who’d have thought it, what luxury! …now also my favourite breakfast. I just showed this to my son who regularly travels to London for the night club scene. Having seen this he now intends to make this his (with his mates) a regular stop while waiting for the early trains to restart. Great find Gary.
