I will never get tired of watching people react to this song. First they are blown away by the beauty of his voice. Then he starts to build it up and they are like ohh what's coming? A little growl!? Did I like that!? I think I did! The he starts to really let it out and really growls and controls the beauty and you can literally tell when the chills kick in.

actually it isn't, there a cpl times the Autotune kicks in, You can see when he pulls his head back from the mic kinda annoyingly, he didn't want it used, but he was fighting an illness and the show's producers used it, and 2 or 3 times at the farthest reach of his vocals, it kicked in, unfortunately, but for those 3-5 secs, all the rest: him.

My interpretation of this song, revised: This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the perspective of the awakened. Hello, darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a streetlamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in the armor of dark, they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds (awakened Ones) telling those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle way, but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of being attacked by those that controlled the sound of silence. They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became aware of the Light/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time, it really pissed them off. "Fools," said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead remained in the sound of silence. And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence." The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet. They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?

Rachel, that is the entire point of Auto-Tune. It's not amazing, it's a processed voice. Yes, it's "perfect." Exactly. That is why if you teach your dog to sing human words, he could sound perfect, too. Just give him a microphone and hook up the cord to the console. Voila! I agree that this particular live performance outshines the video. Don’t get me wrong, the video is very well put together and gives you visuals of the story he is unfolding…both very powerful and what a gift of talent. But live brings out his beautiful, trained and strong voice with such passion as he’s relating the somber story of mankind. Makes you really get into the heartfelt lyrics of Paul Simon’s song of yesteryear and still has meaning throughout history and especially into today’s world. You don’t have video distracting from his performance and pure voice. I agree … WOW. No heavy metal there … very classy and well done. Orchestra and his band accompany him very well and those tympani drums OMG. It all builds and builds towards that beautiful ending. Gives one goosebumps and such a wondrous musical treat. Well done to all. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

No, he wasn't "sick." And he didn't perform this hideous Auto-Tune garbage that night. I love This song! I also love your Christmas hat! It blesses me how much you love the season because I love Christmas too. As for this rendition of "The Sound of Silence", while I do prefer the Simon and Garfunkel version I have to say that this guy does a fantastic job as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the song as sung by him. His vocal interpretation adds a different interpretive dimension to the song itself, which I like. It adds variety to a song that has already been known for a number of decades. And as always, your reaction to it also was outstanding and added to the experience. I love seeing you react to songs you have never heard before. In a way, it's like I get to listen to it for the first time all over again. Great job is always! And here's to your next reaction video! @iSiberianHusky2 жыл бұрын
@@russ4862 Because Auto-Tune can turn ANYBODY into a singer. It's freakin' karaoke. It's insulting to the audience, it's insulting to every singer who doesn't use it. And it's so blatantly obvious in this guy's songs, and his Auto-Tune cover of this particular song is an abomination. I'd cut him some slack if he'd simply admit that he uses Auto-Tune on all of his albums and during live performances. Be honest with the consumer. Be honest with the audience. But instead, he chooses to repeatedly, without a conscience, lie about it like everybody is a complete idiot. As I said, it's both a middle finger and a travesty.

There's not a ton of alterations in that one and you can hear all the little nuances in his voice and it sounds so much more natural. It's incredible!
