Wow coming here just reminded me of some of the old racing games I played growing up and it feels like they were a whole other genre such is the contrast to racing games of today. Games like F Zero X, Diddy Kong Racing, Beetle Adventure Racing, Project Gotham Racing, and Blur had their own unique style and created their own sense of fun in how they were played. Hopefully we can get back to these fun experiences again soon.

Good to hear from you Alan , im kind of in a racing / driving game slump but Nightrunners prologue definitely made me look forward to it and just so recently we saw Genki teasing a reboot of Tokyo Xtreme Racer franchise and both of them are coming somewhere at 2025. It's pretty hard for me to get into driving games as of recent for someone that can't get their hands on a wheel setup but do hope some smaller games can fill that niche. Def look into Nightrunners , its a pretty neat game even for me that really wasn't into highway racers but it seems really fun

HELLO VIEWERS !!! nice to see new video :) - Yah its really frustrating being an old git and seeing the state things are in , as you point out indy devs doing some nice stuff but the large devs /publishers have totally dropped the ball over the last few years , like they are just coasting / don't give the dev teams freedom or job security to actually do a good job. I actually think all the focus has bassically moved onto trying to drop cash cow games as the chance of maybe making the next one of them is what gets investor money and cash rolling , this then totally distracts from developers just trying to make "good games" , unfortunately manipulating children into gimbaling and exploiting the worst parts of human nature are more likely to be profitable than appealing to peoples enjoyment of game mechanics solid story and humour. As you also point out , its just there is no excitement or vibe or hype its all this dull drab semi realistic stuff , also the music is so dull or just licenced existing music.

Thanks GM, I often lurk in your streams and enjoy a bit of discovery on Flight Sim. The industry is in bad place creatively, the reasons for this are a long story. In regards to Monster Trucks...just throw nitro on them, add dangerous shortcuts throughout the tracks, add multiple paths to go with ramps and fantastical elements if needed for the track design. Think almost Motorstorm-like. Great to see you again though Alan, missed these sorts of vids. I've also been looking forward to Parking Garage Rally Circuit and Victory Heat Rally. Played the demo of the latter and it was very fun. Descenders Next is looking pretty good.

You need to try WRC again - it's like a different game compared to when it released - had so many patches - it's so much more optimsed now. The frame rate was poor - sorted now. Screen tearing poor - sorted now. Handling on jumps poor - sorted now. Honest please try it again. And according to the planned roadmap there's new content being added in a few months too - new stages and even a new rally, or two. And it's also great with both a wheel AND a controller - once you dial in decent settings.

Great to see you again! Youve been doing it for so long, its only natural to have some breaks every now and then. If its no longer fun, then its time to do a break. As for Forza Motorsport, I havent even played it but im also no longer the target audience. I drive arcade racers with a gamepad or fully fledged sims like iracing, its arcady brother Forza Horizon 5 is a far more fun game and the difference in playerbases proves that. I still play Forza Horizon 5 and im rather saddened that the next one is taking longer than the usual gaps but hopefully the longer development pays off. I played the demo of TDU Solar Crown, absolutely loved TDU1 back in 2005/6, its an iconic racing game easily ahead of its time, if you were to do a racing game hall of fame, that would belong into it. TDU2 I didnt like quite as much and the first thing I immediately noticed in Solar Crown was the rubbish performance. RTX 4080 and its running awful and it makes you question wether this game isnt a bit too ambitious for a small dev like KT Racing who do have a lot of racing game experience but have never done an open world. Especially in comparison to Forza Horizon 5 which is incredibly well optimized and looks much better as well. I agree with your overall sentiment, too little creativity. Some of the last great arcade racers came out 2009-2013 and its been a bit dry ever since. 2009 Burnout Paradise, the last proper Burnout, it was a great game, it was successful, why is the Burnout franchise dead then? Well NFS wasnt doing great so they pulled Criterion Games to the NFS franchise and then off racing games alltogether. Drivers San Francisco in 2011 I believe? Absolutely brilliant game, innovative, great story, great gameplay, what does Ubisoft do with it? Nothing. They created the Crew franchise instead which is quite frankly just a budget Forza Horizon. Split Second and Blur also released in 2010/11, both brilliant Arcade racers, innovative, something new and well executed. Unfortunately both didnt sell many copies and Blur 2 was even already in development and then cancelled due to poor sales of the first one which is an absolute shame. Ever since then, it has been very dry in the Arcade genre. Simulators are doing really well though, lots of games, lots of competition, games are constantly getting better, iracings rain system is superb.

OMG indeed! By the way, replay ability is the term you're looking for.I can get back to Daytona USA or Outrun 2006 instantly without having to wait for internet or game update, which can you drive you nuts if you just want quick fix for your racing need.

How ya been I genuinely miss you VVV, but the Crew Motorfest is awesome and has the best controller steering physics I've ever seen, and I've been gaming and racing since 1990. Why go on advertising an indie game that looks like that. I'm sure Parking Garage is delightful to some, but it's not quite the ideal racing vibe most are looking for in '24. Now, Car X Street is impressive. That's just my subjective opinion; I'm hoping for the best in gaming moving forward for all of us either way. What would your ideal AAA racing game embody?

Parking Garage is good fun, that's all it needs to be. As for new racing games in '24, nothing has grabbed me. Nothing is impressive or moving things forward or complete. Alas it seems like indie games are all we'll have that is new and innovative for some months or even years to come.

Was thinking about you a few days ago and here you are @Team VVV Good to see you are back. Hope you are happy and healthy besides the stream of shitty racing games that were released in the mean time. Although I somehow had a lot of fun with The Crew Motorfest. Maybe it was the nice environment but gave me more pleasure than Horizon 5 and this new atrocity Solar Crown that dissapointed in every single way. The Motorfest October update seems to be nice with a different island and as we speak I await the presentation of the EA WRC season update with a new rally, cars and skins. The game became better over time and currently at £15 it is worth diving into despite the fact Dirt Rally 2.0 is superior. Hope to see more of you again and hopefully some decent racing games again. Assetto Corsa 2 anyone?

WRC has become a lot better 😅 . Some cars are still weird. Yes you Mitsubishi Lancer and more group A cars. People say it's normal for a 4x4 to behave like they do. Just loose all grip on a straight dry tarmac road at low speed. Other classes don't have this at all. TDU 2 first day with Gold was a mess and a big one. After that for me it's been fine. Haven't played this week, after the update.

This was a nice surprise. 👍 EA/Codies WRC game was a huge letdown. I enjoyed the driving feel but the same stutters and freezes as with every KT game made it unplayable. Glad we have RBR and SLRE.

They all release broken and they are all the same. Forza Motorfest Solar Crown...which is which again? Developers should have just worked together on one game. 😮‍💨 Used to love video games, especially racing but can't be arsed with it anymore. Haven't played anything in nearly a year!
