Oh man how i loved you for this. The research, the attention to detail. As someone who’s been a swiftie all her career this era was epic to live through. And also the full phone call didn’t even get leaked yet here. It came a year or two later. I loved that you took the time for a deep dive. It wasn’t really about what kanye said either it was about him and kim painting her as a liar and also kanyes fans were cheering with him during concerts ”f*ck taylor swift”. Which really made everything worse. If he would have just owned up to the things he said in famous they could’ve fixed it right there but he wanted the attention. My sister went to one of her concerts before this came out and said it was sold out. I had been in that arena before, so I knew about how many seats were there. I'm pretty sure Taylor's beef with the streaming services was artists weren't getting paid for their songs that were listened to by new subscribers during their 90 day free trial period, so Taylor pulled her music from both as a protest! Taylor went toe to toe with Apple Music and Spotify, which meant she was no longer getting revenue, but she was fighting for the smaller artist who needed every penny they could get. This was amazing! It’s so different listening to someone react to LWYMMD when they know what she’s talking about, what she’s referencing. And there are probably more Easter eggs in this video than in any other video she’s made. She said herself that there are some that wouldn’t be caught for years - I guess they referred to music yet to come. (It gets kinda long here. Sorry about that!) I’m not a Swiftie, but I’ve been learning a lot recently. If you look deeper into this video, if you’re interested in the meaning of the details, you’ll find a lot. Like the single dollar in the bathtub full of jewels, and the “tilted stage” as she straightened the graveyard. Those are probably the most obvious two, there are so many more. Spotify references, and of course a lot that are about the Scott Borchetta/Scooter Braun situation. That’s so heartbreaking - Scooter Braun may be a bully, but Scott Borchetta was a second father to her. That's a whole different kind of pain. There are more references to him in her music than new listeners catch. Once I knew, I could hear them everywhere. I fell in love with the long pond studio sessions, the emotion in that live My Tears Ricochet honestly made me cry, knowing she’s talking to someone who she once loved like family. Somehow that made it hurt more to listen to than if it had been a breakup song. "And I still talk to you, When I'm screaming at the sky, And when you can't sleep at night, You hear my stolen lullabies". Ouch. I liked her music before, but I didn’t seek it out to listen to. Since the Eras tour began, starting a dive into her whole catalog, I’ve been discovering stuff I absolutely love. Watching good reaction videos has been so much fun. I'll listen to a new (to me) song, then go watch other people listen to it for the first time. Your videos have been a delight.
