Oh man, your front yard is beautiful!! Those wide streets with the big lawns, big trees. It's very similar to what I grew up on and it's definitely something you don't see anymore these days (with new developments). Today you have zero lot lines. I can mow my front yard with one hand standing in my front doorway - seriously! On another note, that was cool of FedEx to hold your gear for you like that. Didn't know they'd even do that. I always find FedEx and UPS drivers to be some of the coolest hard workers and they always seem so happy - I've honestly never had a single issue.

This is a great time Benny. Watching you slowing build your new studio. Maybe I'll learn something. My wife & I moved into a smaller house about 8 years ago. It's a 4 bedroom house. When we were first looking at it, my wife pointed out the smallest room & told me, this is your room Lin, you can do what ever I wanted to. I was picturing how my modest 16 guitars were going to go into the room, my 3 amps were going to look great! It never happened! One of the rooms is my wife's office, that had to happen. My daughter stayed in one while she went to college, that was only 10 years cause she's a doctor now. The other two that are left also turned into bedrooms. I never got my studio 😳. But that's okay, a husband has to make sure the wife is happy, right Benny? I'm too old to have one anyway. Just as long as I have a place to plug in my amp, that's all I need. Anyway, I'll live through you as you build your next studio, can't wait till it's done. Have fun building it Benny.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist
@TheNeuroticGuitarist 7 ай бұрын
You're never too old, my buddy gene just turned 70 and he's recording everyday. I'm not saying to make your wife unhappy because her happiness is super important, but don't discount that you could still have a space to be creative. You're not dead. Life isn't over. So if you don't feel the need, that's one thing, but maybe you'd find a little happiness in creating a music space. I think it'd be good for you. Feel free to read this to your wife. It's her call. But I'd be surprised if she didn't encourage you to do what makes you happy, assuming playing makes you happy. Doesn't have to be extravagant, but having a space to think, practice and get lost in is a great way to keep you young!

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Hey, having your own functioning studio is paramount for what you plan to do. Maybe cover the subject of compromises. Your steel door(s) selection was a perfect example of the realities of basically building your business and brand from the ground up. The reason you chose the steel and how you described it was IMO spot-on. I believe many people have a pretty good idea of what they think they want (as far as studio design and equipment), the reality is usually much different, work-arounds and equipment substitutions might be a good subject to highlight as most people's budgets are not unlimited (unless you are the Federales/Guberment. You've a substantial amount of planning/work ahead of you (and I'm sure you are already well into the project). One of these days I'll have to tell you about my Friend Kenny's Studio, it is genius (IMO). 👍

At 48 I, because I'm homebound from a horrible detached retina with other complications, have decided to learn how to play, picked up a cheap acoustic put new strings on if and it has put a smile on my face a happiness has come from it in a time where things are uncertain for me. Well I've been watching guitar stuff here on the Tube and your Neurotic Ass popped up. I've watched your videos, I like your passion, I've learned some things. But the big thing is man there are so many different guitars and I want more. I don't know where this is gonna take me and it's fir some reason becoming easy for me my sight is horrible but my other senses are heightened especially my feel in my fingers and hands the movements it's coming easy I'm not looking I'm feeling. You sir are one of a kind I love your spirit I'm subscribed and look forward to joining you on your journey and learning to play these wicked instruments. A cheap no name guitar and your Passion has pulled me up from years of struggling to sitting in my office chair rolling around playing a guitar smiling. Peace and Thank You.

Wow man. Just wow. First, I am so sorry to hear about your eye. That's just a straight bummer. But I am so excited to hear that you have turned to guitar. It won't let you down. Les paul used to say it will always be your friend and never leave you. Finding something to focus on when terrible things happen can be the gateway to total creativity. You may have lost much of one sense but your other senses are compensating. I'm 41 now and the biggest progress I've made in guitar has been in the last 2 years doing this channel for all of you. Stay focused, take the anger and pain out on that guitar and let it reward you with the awesome sounds you're gonna make. I'm here for your journey dude. Benny once your move is done, you need to think about gettin one of those KHE amp / cab switchers if you're gonna do amp demos like some of the commenters here have asked for. I think they're Swiss made. Andy the guitar Geek did a vid last year or maybe 2022 on it and uses it in his vids. But TBH, i think the current setup you use is fine when demoing guitars. Trogly always uses the same amp, same settings on all his guitar demos so we're used to hearing what each guitar sounds like through his "stock standard" setup. Other YT channels like Andy's will switch amp heads and sometimes speaker cabs too, and also put it up on the screen to inform us. Something to think about. cheers from NZ
@TheNeuroticGuitarist
@TheNeuroticGuitarist 7 ай бұрын
100% I was looking at radial switchers...my amp setup is stupid. I want to have all of my amps racked and be able to direct it to whatever cab. I have a much bigger space I'm setting up and I'm going to create a much bigger control room so you'll definitely be seeing a lot more of that. I'll have to check out his videos. I don't watch much trogly but I don't consider him a player. He's a collector that knows electronics but he's not a player searching for tone from what I've seen, just a bibliophile of facts. I'll check into the KHE stuff. My biggest annoyance is that I'm doing this all myself and the amount of time and effort to set things up and run from room to room is maddening. I will 100% setup permanent sets with stationary cameras and lights and leave all the mics setup always like I have the drums so I just go and press record. Right now it's psychotic the level of back and forth I'm doing because I never dreamed I'd be doing this when I first setup my studio.

@@TheNeuroticGuitarist i look fwd to it. Yep Troglys channel is niche but i think his formula works for what he does. The info is great and he freely admits he’s not a great player but he does well enough. It must be annoying for you as im thinking you’re always seeking perfection. If you look at say Ola’s setup- he has a romm for SWOLA and another room with all the heads. Agufish and Andy have one room for everything and they both use those KHE switchers. The dude John over at Sonic Drive Studio YT channel has more amp heads than anyone on YT and doesn’t use a switcher at all. He uses different heads usually into his Mac and uses cab sims there and puts it up on the screen. Sometimes he does use a micd up cab though. Good channel that one. Not many subscribers too. Anyway I’m just putting things out there for you to consider so you have as many options to make a splash in YT and get the subs up. I didn’t get that job in the music store chain sadly but I’m used to knockbacks. 50+ jobs applied for and just the 1 interview. Such is life. I’m in good spirits though- who wouldn’t be when you have a rare Sun Dew Gold Ibanez Pia in your lap like I do now whilst typing this ? 😎🎸🤘

I have 6 guitars, an acoustic, a Fender Telecaster Thinline, & a Les Paul knock off brand all tuned to E standard, Epiphone Explorer tuned to D, Godin Radium tuned to E flat, & a Squier Starcaster tuned to C sharp. My wife is not a guitar enthusiast like me, we don't really have the same taste in music either. She's got her office for her stuff & works from home 2 days a week. I don't want her to change what she likes to do & I'm more than OK to have my "office", guitar room. I like that we both have different hobbies. I just wish she had more time to go out & take photos. I go with her on a 1:30 hour road trip while we stop occasionally for her to take photos. Then we get home & I can dive into guitar stuff.

Benny, we guitarists love our tones. All our tones. Different tones for different songs. For different guitars. For different weather. For different amps. BUT do our audiences really give a shit? Have you ever, ever had a non-guitarist come up an say. you should have a slightly different tone for that song. Or that would sound so much better if you increased the gain a little and lowered the reverb. So, what is it that our audiences crave from us and our guitars? What do THEY want? Do we care what They want? Should we care? Maybe if we're happy, then they're happy. Whatever makes US happy. I don't know...... maybe it's just us and our guitars.
