Yes drill a whole on the outer tyre and turn the crawler upside down and accelerate. The forces push the fluid outwards. I did a video on it and I drill a hole in all my tires now. Having a hole on the inside is pointless as it doesn't work to dry them out at all.

Two years ago Colin and I bought the 144001 and could not believe you can get a ready to run car that goes 60 kph for under 100 usd. With metal chassis and shocks and shock towers. And the electronics worked 100% of the time, unlike the Tamiya. 😂😂😂 Moving on from a mechanical speed controller is also weird. 😁😁 Well all I can say now is welcome back and have fun. @JohnRobinsonRC2 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon. Hope you are well. Concerning parts. Honestly the car is great out of the box. I can't think if anything that breaks frequently. A good charger is worth the investment as not only does it balance charge, but also can discharge and also put a battery into storage mode which keeps the battery healthier for longer. The grease is a simple one to pick up locally. White lithium grease (has to be white) is perfect and cars i have used it on month ago, still run perfectly and I have had ZERO differentials needing repair. If you can't get white lithium grease then general use grease will do just fine. 😊👌

Great video John, my brushless 144001 (2440 4600kV motor and 35a ESC) does about 38mph right now in ideal conditions, and eventually, I may change the motor and ESC one final time for something similar to the 124016/7 V2 cars. Be careful when speed running like that, you can take out your ankles/shins easily with a car, even a light one, let alone going at that speed, it will be very painful! I know you need the visibility and need to see oncoming cars, but be careful! Oh, and about the rolling, when the car rolls, especially at higher speeds, that rolling will actually skew the speed results, as sometimes the rotational speed is faster than the car running!
@JohnRobinsonRC2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true. However it wasn't hugely off was it. Results of 88, 90 and 91 shows its consistant. And yeah I am fully aware of the leg issue. Had the 4.5kg bx-8e in my leg. Luckily not at top speed. They hurt. Cheers.
@The_RC_Dude2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnRobinsonRC I wasn’t saying that the speed was inaccurate, all the passes, as you said, showed it was real, just sometimes rolls can skew the speed, although on this one, it didn’t. Oof, that must’ve really hurt!
@JohnRobinsonRC2 жыл бұрын
I was agreeing with you but just wanted to state they were close so accurate. But yes I did wonder how a 26 kph car once did 57 kph without falling off a building. It was then I learnt about the rolling car syndrome. 😂😂😂😁👍

@@The_RC_Dude 38mph sounds low for a 4600kV if you are using the stock 27T pinion , anyway a V2 motor+mount+pinion is about 30$ . but a 35A ESC sounds really low , i would go for 60A or more.
@The_RC_Dude2 жыл бұрын
@@darkki94 Remember, I’m using a smaller, 2440 size motor, not a big ol’ 3660 size motor. So on the brushed motor mounts, if you use a 2440/45 size motor and a rare 15 0.7mod pinion (from the Wltoys A-959) it’ll bolt right onto the inner motor mount holes, not cutting or drilling required (except trimming the gear shroud cover inside, but that’s super easy, it’s soft plastic)! So a 2440 4600kV motor plus a 15t pinion gets you 38mph, but really good acceleration, you lose a ton of weight off the rear end, so the car jumps, corners, and handles better and is more agile. It also runs way cooler than stock, and you have significantly improved battery life! This setup gives you a good, lightweight light-moderate bashing machine, the big 3650/60 size motors are too big, heavy, power hungry, and hot for bashing, those are really only meant for speed runs, and the massive 27t pinion emphasizes that. Try to go bashing with a 3650/60 size motor paired with the 27t pinion and you won’t have that good of a time, for basically all the opposite reasons of why the 2440/45 motors are good for bashing as above. If you’re willing and can drill and slot the motor mount, you can use a more powerful 28__ size motor with a bored out 17t pinion from a stock A-959. Hope this all makes sense, so my setup is a few MPH faster than stock, but improves and basically every aspect! Because it’s a smaller motor, and the gearing is nearly as high as stock, a 35a ESC gets the job done, you could go with a 60a if you want, it won’t make a huge difference, it may run slightly cooler off-road, but the setup I have doesn’t even run hot! (Except for tougher bashing in hot conditions) Also remember, after the brushless conversion, this car weighs 2.2 pounds (at least mine does with my other upgrades), so it’s not too heavy, unlike something like an Arrma Keaton 8s which needs like a 160-180a ESC!

Actually a lot of high power rc's come with front toe out and rear toe in. It makes them more stable. Front toe out so that the outer wheel in corners which obviously get the most weight to carry, don't turn in too far for it to get nervous. And rear toe in to keep the rear in track because of forces pushing to the center of the truck.

That was epic mate. Can't deny I am tempted to buy one of those but I'm still a little mad over the V1 Buggy that cogged and their awful aftersales. 🙄

Yeah I get that mate. I spoke with Makerfire and they have bundled the 3000 mAh 3s battery with it and they have great service. Just an FYI that's all. Its unfair what wltoys did and even worse that they didn't try and fix it.

You would get more speed if your runs was longer
@JohnRobinsonRC2 жыл бұрын
Yes maybe but I couldn't risk it with the kids and dogs around. 91 kph is a decent speed. I am going to the same area mid week when it is quieter to see if we can get a little more out of it. Have a great day. 😊👍
