The Destroyer Malefor summoned is not an evil beast, just a force of nature, meant like a "cleansing fire" bring a new world through the destruction of the old one. But Malefor believed that it's a destiny of his kind to bring the new, pure world through all the misery the golem causes, rise above "chains of the past". At first he may believed it as a sad necessity, but in the end he embraced the idea so much, that he enjoyed anything that is affiliated with destruction and suffering.

Malefor is just Pure Satanic Sadistic Evil throughout the Trilogy he: He sent the attack on the Dragon Temple, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of baby dragons. He corrupted Cynder into his mindless slave, and made her kill countless dragons. He created the Well of Souls, which was a home to the depraved spirits of the realms, but it was caused by his sheer malice. He made a volcanic wasteland where the Swamp originally was, resulting in the deaths of countless lives. He sent his armies to ruthlessly slaughter all of those who oppose him. He killed the apes and left their souls to scurry in the depths of the realms. He tried to destroy Spyro's friendship with his love interest, Cynder, by trying to force her to kill him. He attempted to destroy and recreate the world, not caring about who died with it.

I found this but I don't remember if it's accurate (you have to press two buttons at the same time when the meter is full): on PlayStation: Hit the “X” button and the “Square” button at the same time to activate it on the Xbox version: Hold the “X” and “Y” buttons after filling the Fury meter to use Fury mode. On Wii: Hold the “C” and “Z” buttons to enter Fury mode.

something i never understood. was malefor always going to be coming back on the eternal night, or was it necciassry that spyro must have been their in the heart of the eclipse to resurrect him? cause if the eternal night could bring him back, then why did he need cynder to open a portal? surely he could wait a few years. if anyone has any theories feel free to add them, i know i'm nit picking but hey it's what we're here for.

One thing always bugged me about this series once Skylanders came out. Skylanders is set in pretty much the same world (Malefor is mentioned in the bios of a number of Skylanders characters, some like Hex, claiming to have tried to fight him), so where were the Portal Masters, Kaos and the Arkeyans when Malefor threatened the world?

Nine years late I know, but my theory is the reset of the world lead to the creation of the portals, Kaos did not yet exist (and Dragon's can have HELLA prolonged lifespans.) Same with Eon. The Arkeyans were ancient machines deep within the earth, practically forgotten. Think of it like the Destroyer. It was long forgotten but still remembered, in case it ever awakened. The Arkeyans however, were totally forgotten. I headcanon that the Arkeyans were the ones that tought the Dragons architecture, as they have somewhat similar aesthetics. Summary: the reset would build the portals, none of the Skyland characters or species existed yet, Arkeyans are so ancient, they were already forgotten well before the time of spyro.
