what a great equipment. I have one question. how to connect the clamps in a CB with one interruption chamber? (where to connect the black clamp )
@omicronenergy6 жыл бұрын
Dear aurel Hoxhaj, thank you for your words and the related interest in OMICRON and our products. With the MC2 we have the possibility to connect two interrupter chambers. This means, the MC2 has two current outputs and two voltage inputs. We just output e.g. 100A and measure back the voltage drop and hence calculate the resistance for the Dynamic Resistance Measurement or the Contact Resistance. If you have one interrupting chamber, you need to connect it the same way as for two, just - one clamp (red) on the circuit breaker contact and the other clamp (black) on an earth potential. Often we use just the housing or screws of the breaker, as this is in most cases earth potential. There you need to be careful, due to potential pollutions or coatings. But take care: The oil drain screw is often not on earth potential, avoid this place for the earth connection. For tricky connections we have got so called Y-clamps with a thorn to ensure a proper connection. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Best regards, Your OMICRON team

for a Circuit breaker with one interrupting chamber, in the case of static resistance measurement the red clamp is connected in one terminal of the CB, and the black clamp in the other terminal of CB. (none of the terminals grounded) ? Thank you

Dear aurel Hoxaj, you’re right. For a one chamber breaker, you have the red clamp on the one hand side of the breaker and the black one of the other side. Just for the two interrupter chamber breakers we need the earth on the housing. Best regards, Your OMICRON team

one more thing. is it necessary to ground any of the terminals?
@omicronenergy6 жыл бұрын
Hi aurel Hoxaj, Usually we ground on one side on HV breaker. The line side will be disconnected and with the earth breaker it’s grounded. Best regards, Your OMICRON team

Hi thanks for great video ! I have a question it may look daft but here you are : how can we connect the main terminals of the breaker to earth and at the same time injecting with cb mc 2 ? are we not injecting to the earth ? i appreciate if any one reply this question ? thanks

Mohammad Bahraini Dear Mohammad, Thank you for your kind comment. The contact resistance is typically very low, of only a few µΩ. The long earth loop on live tank circuit breakers is of much higher resistance, and can therefore be neglected.
