This is one of the best reviews of a product I've watched. Thank you for the thoroughness. I can't stand reviews of products that show how great something is under perfect conditions, so it was refreshing to see you put this through the wringer. The only thing I wondered about is if you've had any experiences with freezing rain or snow. Thanks!

I had to build a roof enclosure over it using 3 pieces of 1x12 wood because of freezing rain this winter, but it didn't damage it at all it just froze shut.

It's been working great so far, if it dies I will certainly be documenting my warranty experience. They say it has an 18 month warranty, and the backyard chicken forums say they actually stand behind it. I'm really shocked that I still have 80% battery life left still today. My chickens took a few days to get used to the door but it's awesome not having to tell friends "sorry we got to go soon and lock our chickens up".

Awesome review, I recently got this door but i installed it on the inside of my coop, away from the rain /snow, elements. I also got the power supply rather than rely on the batteries. so far, it's been working great - i set it up on a timer rather than light sensor.

@@annwithaplan9766 It's still working flawlessly, worked perfectly throughout the winter as well(-20c), and surprisingly. The power adapter didn't work so i revereted back to the AA batteries. I haven't had to recharge(or change) the AA batteries once yet. still highly recommend!

You're welcome, thanks for watching. It's been almost a year now and the only malfunction it has had was when it iced up during a freezing rain storm. I built a little roof for it and it no longer freezes. Same set of batteries too.

LOL... awesome review. Thanks. So, you can't program it to stay open longer than 20 minutes after sundown? That's just with the light sensor control though, yes? Can't you set it according to a digital clock/timer? Ordering either way... my chickens go in pretty early. We want it mostly for mornings. Love the different items you used to check pressure if a chicken got stuck.

You can add a x-minute delay after the sunset light level is reached. The _minimum_ amount of time after reaching the light sensor value is 20 minutes. This is why I could only open/shut the door every 20 minutes. The light sensor would see the "sun" and start the 20 minute countdown, and it would open after that 20 minute countdown had elapsed. Right when the door opened I turned off the "sun" and the unit sensed the darkness level crossing the threshold and started another 20 minute timer before it would shut the door. I am sorry if that wasn't clear in the video. And yes, you can set the unit to go strictly off of a clock. You can also set it open/close manual only mode where it only opens/shuts by holding the OK button. I would say I like the morning opening feature as much as the night closing feature. I love drinking my coffee and watching the chickens run out of the coop in excitement. Thanks for watching!

Excellent review! My major concern is keeping racoons out. They are very smart, strong and dexterous. I lost all five of my chickens one night last fall likely due to racoons. Do you think this door is strong enough to withstand racoon prying?

It doesn't easily slide open when manually forced but I didn't push super hard for fear of breaking it. We bought the door because one night we didn't close the coop and found a headless chicken. The door reduces the likely hood of human error but I doubt it entirely eliminates risk from clever predators.

It doesn't slide open easily but I don't know the amount of force the average raccoon puts out.

There is a clock mode on it where you can set it to open and close at certain times.

It has been 3 months without a response about shipping/delivery dates. I can't recommend a company that takes your money without delivery of the product. I understand there are world wide issues, but don't charge my credit card until it is delivered. How about a small deposit instead?
