I just learned that Lex Luthor wasn't supposed to be in seasons 1 or 2 of this show, they had a strict guideline from executives that said no. That's why in Season 1 he only ever used the name Alex, and they wrote him so that he could become Lex if they were given the go ahead for it. That's amazing, and a great way for them to push the boundaries of executives that only want their ways.

@@thetechnosaiyan Many things involving personal concepts like ‘love’ or ‘friendship’ stated outright, tend to get the ‘cheese’ label. I'm going to go ahead and say that in the same vein as Batman's "superpower" being money, Jimmy's is being good at making friends. This Jimmy specifically. I'm ignoring all those times Jimmy got powers for a hot minute in comics

There have been "Metallo Troops" so an army of them isn't that big a stretch. But yeah, "Love is Not for Cowards" is such a fun, fresh sentiment to have in a Superman story. It really adds a bit of "force" to why relationships are these things you work towards and why we should care about these relationships in a piece of genre fiction like this where alien worlds are at stake and such. Vulnerability, connection, are risks, they can hurt us by making new wounds out of old ones (like with Lois's fears of abandonment) but that's the deal. All you can do is try to forgive, grow, and keep trying to bring the best for one another.

This episode, while not as good as the previous, is a good episode. Superman isn't even in this episode beyond his image being used and him being mentioned. Of course, Amanda Waller takes advantage of the situation to tarnish Superman's good name and use her human defense Corp to take over Metropolis. As if I needed more of a reason to hate Amanda Waller. Fortunately, I don't think that the people of Metropolis buy her propaganda against Superman. Unfortunately, when someone tries to discredit her claim, Amanda dismissed it and silenced those who disagree with her. Lois is obviously still dealing with the break-up that she caused. She's determined to do whatever it takes to make things right with Clark, even if it means teaming up with Livewire to steal a spaceship from S.T.A.R labs. Of course, Jimmy has to be the one to pay her. I was bit surprised that he used up all of his remaining money to hire Livewire, but it shows what he's willing to do for his best friend. You even see that Jimmy does live by what Superman stands for. It's both surprising and unsurprising that Livewire and Heat Wave are a couple. Nice to see Mallah and the Brain return to help. It is such a shame that all the planning doesn't go according to plan. The part I didn't like but is still good for Lois' character development is how she feels about Kara. Lois just is angry at Kara to the point that she's willing to use kryptonite against her. If only she knew that Clark and Kara bonded. Jimmy was right about the situation with Kara not being so simple, and it makes sense since he actually spent time to get to know her. Lois doesn't really know anything about Kara, and Jimmy called Lois out on behaving just like Sam did with Superman. Lois just saw Kara as the enemy without really knowing her, just like Sam did with Superman during season 1. Interestingly enough, just as Sam was willing to at least try to see Superman's humanity, Lois was willing to at least try to give Kara a chance, even if it takes some convincing from Jimmy. It's understandable why Lois is just lashing out at Kara when she's still hurting from her last conversation with Clark, but we the audience know that Clark wouldn't be happy if Lois used kryptonite against his cousin. It's also weird to see Livewire give Lois love advice, but Livewire and Heat Wave make a nice couple. Apparently she overhead what Lois said and seems to know about Lois having feelings for Superman. Hopefully, Livewire didn't hear the parts about Clark. The tension of this episode is lessened because we know Lois, Jimmy, Mallah, and the Brain make it into space, but it's still nice to see how they got there. We also see more of Deathstroke's rivalry with not only Livewire, but with Lex Luthor. Amanda Waller seems to be favoring Lex over Slade. Now Lois is aware of Jimmy having feelings for Kara, and the episode ends the same way as the previous one, with Lois and Jimmy finding Kara. I really hope that they can put aside their differences to save Superman.

I don’t think Waller would be such a public face like this, and I never really love heist stories (I’m with Rick Sanchez on this), but those are relatively small complaints I think. The turn revealing what Live Wire was really up to was good and fixed my reservations about the heist sub plot, and humanizing and deepening Live Wire and Heatwave was an amazing touch, I thought. “Love isn’t for cowards” is a great thesis. All told, another banger of an episode.
@atticusyk94004 ай бұрын
They don't really dwell on it, but this is now the second time Lex's warning about faulty tech gets ignored by his boss. But whereas Ivo blames everyone but himself for his subsequent failure, Waller instead acknowledges the Metallos weren't at full capacity and offers Lex anything he needs to fix that. It's inevitable Lex is going off on his own at some point, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) Waller has proven to be a more amenable boss than Ivo ever was, and I think some part of Lex genuinely appreciates that. Also another thing the show doesn't really dwell on- using LexCorp to acquire technology has the added benefit of obtaining gear Waller can enhance with Kryptonite, since Task Force X's Kryptonian tech is vulnerable to the stuff while the Metallos, being built by AmerTek, aren't. Also also, only one of the Metallos survived. Wonder if that's build-up to a more comic-accurate Metallo in the future- perhaps as a composite with Hank Henshaw? Or maybe that's why the Metallos are so different, to avoid clashing with Cyborg Superman.
