I did not expect this. For Brainiac to take over Clark's body. To take that love and use it to break him, that's just cruel. Gotta say, Lois took livewire's words to heart. Doing whatever it takes for the man she loves. As for Jimmy and Kara, Kara has to stay on earth, there's no need for her to be alone again. Those two are adorable. I'm assume, when Brainiac makes it to earth, some people are going to figure out superman been highjacked.

Yea that surprised me Brainiac taking over Clark' body and just cruel of him to use, Clark's own memorys to do it. As for Kara I think she'll probably stay on earth just because I don't want her to be alone. But I can also see her leaving to fixing the damage Brainiac made her do on other planets. But again I don't want to be alone in the world, plus her and Jimmy are cute together.

I loved this episode. The genius of Brainac’s mind manipulation is that it plays to Clark’s deep down insecurity/childhood wound: He’s adopted. That feeling of difference from his family is compounded by also being Kryptonian. Then, as the beginning of the season showed us, he learns that he was deeply loved by his parents. Doesn’t take away from Ma and Pa Kent but there is that little boy in him that longs for the love, acceptance, and sense of belonging with his birth parents. That’s why, in the end, he reverts to being a little boy, seeing his Kryptonian family, and finally feeling like he belongs. Imho, I think we can sometimes forget that bit of the Superman story.

The crazy thing is by this point he's already committed to killing Kara. He no longer needs her to be compliant, so he has no real need to lie to her about loving her. Even if we assume he's doing it to twist the knife before he ends her, telling her that he only ever saw her as a tool for his conquests would hurt her more. I think he's telling the truth. Braniac loves Kara to the extent that he can love anyone. It's just that he sees that as a weakness to be expunged, and he's frustrated by having it to begin with.

I love that what finally breaks Clark isn't a memory that Brainiac tampered with, but a real one. It just wouldn't have hit as hard if that fake memory of Lois on the Daily Planet rooftop or the fake memory of her aiming the Omega Cannon was the breaking point; no, the fact that it was a completely unaltered memory of Lois breaking up with Clark was perfect. And the fact that Clark STILL almost powers through- his positive memories of Lois are too strong for Brainiac to completely eradicate, and that may just be what saves him in the end. Also also, File X has been left on Kandor, which is almost certainly en route to Earth. Five bucks Task Force X finds it by the end of the season.

The Black Mercy is the plant that traps the mind in "For the Man Who Has Everything". This isn't quite the same, but it's close enough for the name, like Candor. I suppose next episode could have more inside his head where he has to reject the false Krypton like the original comic. Also, Brainiac looked at Clark's body and said this man needs to have his tits out!

I love the implementation of the black mercy in this episode. One of the best Superman comics of all time “For The Man Who Has Everything” features Superman under the black mercy and that ending basically gave you a taste of the abilities of the mercy in the book or the JLU adaptation, which is better imo. I’d highly recommend you checking that out. Prepare for some tissues next week fr.

Its actually one of the reasons I think they specifically made the Brainiac makeover so radical. If you didn't know it was Superman, would you think it looks like Superman? Sure, Lex and Waller might know, but I think the situation will end up in such a way that... - Brainiac takes control of Task Force X's tech. Proving them NOT up to the task of actually protecting Earth. - Kara gets seen publicly fighting to save people in Superman colors (all the footage of her previous attack that the public saw was the black and red and, most importantly, while she still had the mask on). - Lois will free Clark from Brainiac's control when he's out of sight of the public and returns to his normal outfit in time for a final battle against whatever of Brainiac's forces/corrupted Task Force X tech is still a threat. - Brainiac transfers himself into the Task Force X tech to survive where he can later form an alliance with Lex (Waller on the other hand I expect to be fully discredited after this and have Task Force X disbanded on her so that Lex can advance to the main adversary for next season).

From what they are setting up, it looks like Lois will try to save Superman in the mind space. They will have to make a temporary alliance with Luthor and Task Force X. Though Superman's enemies don't care to preserve his life, so Lois, Jimmy, and Kara will have to save Clark before he's offed. Nice Justice League nod with the Black Mercy making Superman feel like he is on Krypton.

This latest episode is definitely a great episode, even though the ending is pretty sad. The episode title alone gives away that something bad will happen to Clark by the end. It's interesting to see that in this universe, the black mercy is kryptonian tech that allows one to interact with the mind of the user. It seems that no matter the universe, the black mercy will still be trouble for Superman. Brainiac's plan is simple and his reasoning is understandable. Kandor is falling apart, with the machinery that houses his a.i. dying. So, of course he needs a new body, with Superman being it. To take over Superman's body, Brainiac needs the black mercy to discover Clark's weakness and eliminate his mind. Brainiac starts by making Superman relive past battles in hopes of uncovering his physical weakness. In the meantime, Kara meets up with Jimmy, Lois, Mallah, and the Brain. It still annoys me that Lois called Kara evil, but at least Jimmy knows better. At this point, the crush Kara and Jimmy have on each other is more apparent. It's understandable that Lois is still mad at Kara for kidnapping Clark, but it's still annoying to the point that I'm actually Kara put Lois in her place by bringing up how Lois seemingly rejected Clark. It's rather ironic when you think about it because Lois is having personal issues with Kara because she kidnapped Clark, while earlier in the season Superman had problems with Sam Lane for doing the same thing. It really does show how Clark and Lois really do belong together when they react the same way to the other's family member kidnapping Clark. It's at least nice to see Lois at least try to put her personal feelings aside to save Clark and make things right with him. Kara seems to be a bit in denial thinking that Brainiac is malfunctioning, and it's understandable since he's her adopted father in this universe. At least she still wants to save her cousin while confronting Brainiac on the truth of what's been going on. Beyond that, Kara really doesn't know where to go from there, but Jimmy at least points her in a possible right direction. At first, Brainiac is getting nowhere when having Superman relive past battles because Superman won these battles, but he soon starts to realize the source of Superman's greatest strength, which is also his greatest weakness, his humanity. Brainiac discovered Lois and Jimmy in Superman's memories and starts to use them against Clark. It's nice to see Kara, Jimmy, and Lois work together to save Clark, and more proof is shown of Clark and Kara being related because they act equally awkwardly when they have feelings for someone. When Kara once again brings up how Jimmy is the "leader of the planet", it's a bit funny to see Lois make fun of Jimmy for it. Brainiac is being both cunning and cruel as he starts to piece together Superman's emotional vulnerability. He brings up memories from Clark that emotionally hurt him, such as what happened at S.T.A.R labs, as well as when Clark overheard Lois talking to her dad Sam. Brainiac even brought up the memory of how Lois forced Clark to reveal his secret, which I was not expecting. Brainiac brings up how no one on Earth thus far can beat Superman, but he's still vulnerable mentally and emotionally. Then Brainiac places false memories of Lois thinking badly of Clark just to further weaken him. At that point, Kara confronts Brainiac, still in denial thinking that he's malfunctioning. Brainiac just blatantly reveals his disappointment in Kara. He revealed how he didn't believe the planets Kara found for him were worthy of the kryptonian empire, and how Kara refused to destroy them willingly, so he had to force her to do so. Kara is definitely heartbroken by the revelation, coupled with how Brainiac erased her memories and lied to her. I like how Kara ultimately chooses to try save her cousin Clark, even if it means fighting her adopted father. Clark does start to see through Brainiac's false memories, but Brainiac still uses false memories of Lois hurting him. Then he uses the real memory of Lois' last conversation with Clark, which is definitely a moment where she did hurt him. I just knew that Clark would be vulnerable to Brainiac because of that moment, and I do think it was because of that memory that Brainiac defeated Superman. Despite Superman fighting back and seemingly winning, I knew it wasn't real. Then the black mercy of this universe started to function the same way as its comic book counterpart as it showed Clark a life of belonging with his kryptonian family. I feel like this is a metaphor for what this season has been about; Clark finding where he truly belongs. I do like the human side Kara shows when she's sad about seemingly defeating Brainiac, her adopted father, but it leads to the terrible reveal that Brainiac has control over Superman's body. This episode seems to also make up for Kara overpowering Superman previously by having Brainiac in Superman's body overpower her. Interestingly enough, Brainiac starts to reveal a bit more about Krypton, how kryptonians were genetically created and how he was built as the greatest mind of Krypton to defend the empire and preserve what he deemed to be the ideals of Krypton. Brainiac believed that the kryptonians had grown weak overtime and started to affect him with that weakness. He claimed that he did love Kara like a daughter. Whether that's true or not, Brainiac is still willing to purge those feelings. Jimmy then uses kryptonite, and interestingly enough, while it does affect Superman's body and Kara, it doesn't seem to work on Brainiac directly. In the end, it doesn't matter, as Brainiac jettisoned Lois, Jimmy, and Kara into space, while keeping the sphere and kryptonite. This might have disastrous consequences later. As Brainiac and Kandor teleport away, Kara does rescue Lois and Jimmy, with help from Mallah and the Brain. I honestly hope that Lois now has a better understanding and relationship with Kara considering how much she tried to help them. For now, Lois uses the black mercy herself to try to save Clark. Hopefully she succeeds in freeing Clark before Brainiac makes it to Earth, otherwise Superman's reputation on Earth might be damaged beyond repair. I can't wait for the penultimate episode of season 2 of My Adventures with Superman.

I have the strangest feeling that (given the promo for the next episode) even though Lois somehow has temporary amnesia and is interacting with a false mental projection of Jor-El, that somehow, a part of the original/real Jor-El's mind and memories still exist since Lois (before entering the ship that became the Fortress of Solitude) interacted with a piece of the ship with the palm of her hand made some kind of psychic 🔮 link between her and Jor-El, like some kind of strange alien (Kryptonian) backup hard drive 💾 for Jor-El's mind scan 🤔🤯! And if she physically (actually mentally but you get the idea 💡 I think 🤔🤷‍♂️?) interacts with the false Jor-El, the real Jor-El, while officially and truly dead physically (his original mind and body, with his soul having left the realm of the living) and mentally/technologically (the mind scan sacrificed the last of his existence to purify the Kryptonite from the ship, also teleporting away from Task Force X and creating the Fortress of Solitude) due to his mental link to Kal-El/Clark/Superman, when all these things interact with one another, the *_real_* Jor-El (even if only for the short amount of time that Brainiac still possesses Clark's body up until that ends, and it probably will too, it's likely a given 🤔🤷‍♂️) will help Lois free Clark from this false fantasy that Brainiac has imprisoned him in within his own mind, and maybe finally, with Jor-El's help, Lois will finally realize her terrible mistake (she already knows and admits that it was a mistake to prematurely assume he didn't love her the same way ( *(with huge amounts of sarcasm)* _thank you very much_ Sam (him repeatedly abandoning Lois and treating her like a soldier more than a daughter like he should have, placing unfair and unnecessary/impossible standards with that damaging her feelings of self-worth, giving her insecurities, not being there when she needed him the most, to be open with her about his feelings and what he did and not brushing her off repeatedly saying that *_"it's classified"_* excuse in favor of his work, unable make any lasting friendships due to constantly moving, hiding the fact that her mother was terminally ill, which hit harder when she died and she was the only other person in the world who she could talk to and be open with and damaged her ability to trust others, as well as her desperately trying to get him to stay even though he made valid points that he would only be endangering her just by being near her, not to mention all of that lead to her ignoring Clark's justified negative feelings towards Sam because of what he did to him and especially how he treats her 🤨🥺😔, and her distrust towards other aliens/Kryptonians making her not see how lonely he felt being the only one of his kind on Earth and upon learning that he still had at least _one living_ blood relative, while happy with his adoptive human family, still wanted to connect with the family that he had lost 🥺😣😔, and she, the woman who mattered the most in his life (aside from Martha his adoptive mother, and Lara Lor-Van the mother he never got to know), due to needless insecurities and distrust, said that they shouldn't find Kara without noticing that saying that absolutely hurt him 🙄😒🤨🤦‍♂️😔) and Cat Grant (not intentionally and trying to give her genuine advice (likely from her own harsh experience(s) 😰😥😓😔)), and combine all of that with her telling her father Sam that Clark *_"is strange"_* and taking too long for Clark stay to overhear the rest of her sentence that that was why she loves him 🤦‍♂️. Made him feel so alone 😔 (which in his message to Kara, he said that he was tired of it).

The way I see it. Kara has always disobeyed him and needed strong mental rewrites so she was always a bit of a liability to keep around. But now that he is Clark as his new body does he no longer have to bother with the ever unreliable Kara.

The episode being called the “Death of Clark Kent” or something like that - I wonder once Lois saves Clark that part of him will still be a bit broken (if that makes sense) I was reading the episode description of episode 10 so minor spoiler if you want to go in blind - he says that Clark has to chose between friends or earth and something about being a true Kypton… I wonder if the rest of season will kind of be Clark fighting with himself to go back to who he was previously With that I find it werid how it says “Superman, Kara, jimmy, and Lois team up to stop Braniac” it’s just weird wording bc aren’t they already a team..idk I might be over thinking it but who knows, we will find out the 20th

Am I the only one who sees all this She-ra scenes? They stole so many of them, how can you not see it? Brainiac Primus is so alike the Horde Prime, so as Kara like Adora. Even Horde drones was stolen! They just call them "Metallo" and changed some details!

I just want to throw this out there, this show has homaged a lot of other animated shows and anime throughout it's run but all of those things such as Brainiac and his army of drones pre-date She-Ra and even He-Man's creation by a few decades. Same with Metallo and Kara.
