I lovw how this episode references everything from Scorcese's "After Hours" to "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret".

We get an important chunk of Beard's backstory in season 3, and no lie, it hits so hard. Beard is such a great, multi-faceted character.

Yeah his only major writing issue is Jane and him being portrayed as healthy.

@@thatgirlwearingglasses then this show shouldn’t make it look like a happily ever after for them, displaying it as that makes it pretty damn clear the showrunners had no issue romanticizing a toxic relationship

@@mr.stuffdoer8483but hun, beard liked her and liked being with her. So it makes sense they ended up together. I don’t understand what your problem is. Like, if I’m writing a character that’s choosing to end up with a person one shouldn’t be with that just means I’m writing what my character wants to choose for themselves, not that I’m telling my readers that’s a choice everyone should make for themselves. I mean, I can watch this show and appreciate it and still make a better choice in my love life despeite the choice a tv character made. Can’t you?

Apparently a lot of folks didn't care for this episode, but I loved it. Beard could totally front his own show.

This one and the Christmas episode are last minute fill ins as they decided to give the show a couple of extra episodes . . They stand alone because the season story thread was already written , so they don't effect the over all show , but give us a look at other sides of various charactors .

Yes! Came here to say this… stand alones that don’t change their story arcs for the season. They were given 12 eps for s2 at the last minute thus the 2 stand alone eps

It's a cool episode cause we always hear small comments from Beard about crazy things and experiences he's had in personal life and for 1 episode we get to see it first hand.

I do love this episode because it seems like there's some symbolisms. Ted once said that there's nothing worse than being sad and alone so when beard goes off to be by himself every time he drops his keys he has a new encounter. Every time he feels alone something comes along to try and make him feel not alone including showing that getting yourself beat up which was kind of a symbolisms of beating himself up, also didn't help.

Just noticed that the guy who lets the pub trio into the stadium says „walk this way“ and he‘s kinda dressed like a member of Run DMC in the video for that song.

The oddly intense thing Beard said on the elevator, was a quote from Fight Club… after he almost “killed” that Asian guy

This ep is a send up of Scorcese's film After Hours from 1985...and one of my fsvorite eps of the whole series. Still need to watch the Scorcese flick to compare, but I LOVE it bc it bc it's every bit as weird and random and we just knew Beard's "after hours" life would be.

This episode is an homage to Martin Scorsese's 1985 film "After Hours." The episode makes slightly more sense if you've seen the movie.

IMO, Beard was always crazy. Jayne just makes him crazier. We know Berard was doing stuff off hours but this may have been a normal night for him out on the town.

This is an extremely odd and kinda wonderful episode 😊 the magic thing beard does for the lads is special because they can’t afford to watch the team live in the ground and he lets them run free.
@thatgirlwearingglasses
@thatgirlwearingglasses 2 ай бұрын
Idk why I see this comment so may times. Does no one understand that the reason it’s special is because they’re fans getting to play on their team field with their friends? This is every sports fan dream. If beard was trying to do something nice for them cuz they don’t have money he’d just have given them tickets to a match. This isn’t about them not having money, it’s about them being avid football fans.

Gotta be straight up honest Mike. This is my least favourite episode of TL. Very, very odd indeed. Yes it has it's moments, but it is so far detatched from the whole "Ted" dynamic that, for me it kinda doesn't work! However. I believe in balance. So...Next episode. Incredible. Back to it's best. No spoilers, but my favourite scene from all three seasons is in it. It only features two people. Rupert and Sassy. Enough said Mike. Enjoy... Please keep doing what you're doing. No-one competes. Not even close my man. Much l❤ve.

I don't not like this because it's weird. I don't like it because it's the one time where it felt like Ted Lasso dropped the ball. The recurring 'dropped keys' motif went nowhere. I was expecting a twist where Beard was attacked on his doorstep (by Jamie's Dad, perhaps), and this was his brain's way of processing the details but it turned out it was just actually his night.
