"Avenge me Keeley, AVENGE ME!!" I quote this often.

the fact that hannah waddingham was able to make me sob with a cover of never gonna give you up is a testament to how fantastic an actress she is

So it's also nice to note that both Rebecca and Ted were so affected by the traumatic experience that it caused both of them to break the chains of their parents stories that mirrored theirs. Ted could as easily be the father feeling alone and depressed on the verge of ending his life and Rebecca could be like her mother in a loveless marriage with someone that is constantly cheating on them. But it was through that life changing experience that they both decided that they were going to make sure that, that would not be them. Ted makes it a point to take others feeling into consideration and make sure that all those around him feel loved which in turn they give back so he can have that purpose he needs to keep going if only to help one more person. Because his goal is to make sure he leaves the people around him better then when they started. Rebecca for her part did what her mother couldn't and loved herself enough to be alone then with someone like Rupert.

(Rupert approaches) REBECCA: "I am going to be a mature adult, I am going to be respectful, and I will not show you that you can get to me. ..... luckily, Sassy's here." SASSY: "Oi, fuckface."

Since Ted Lasso is big on rom-communism, the wedding-part is just there so that the title of the episode can refer to the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral"
@FenixNade6 ай бұрын
no weddings could also refer to her and Sam going on a break and not getting more serious

One of my absolute favorite episodes. Uniting hilarous jokes, huge character development and emotional lows. The way Jason Sudeikis delivers the line at 14:28 will never fail to shoot tears in my eyes.

The wedding part of the title comes from the Hugh Grant movie the whole title is lifted from, Four Weddings and a Funeral.

BTW, that's an amazing movie you should see along with Notting Hill.

"I thought he was black". There are some excellent reaction videos of people finding out the hard way that the Bee Gees are white. :D

Plus the fact that, back when Never Gonna Give You Up came out, people thought Rick Astley was black.

Not so fun fact: during the funeral scene, Hannah Waddingham's actual father was going through open heart surgery. It was in London, and she thought she would rather be working than sitting in a waiting room for hours on end and obsessing over it...and that's the scene they were scheduled to shoot that day. She had to give the eulogy several times to get full coverage on a church full of people. Thankfully, her dad came out of everything okay, but it was definitely close to the surface when she was shooting that.

What Ted Lasso does is amazing is that in the admits of sad tears, the writers and actors makes you laugh by something
@rolandcooke6 ай бұрын
IIRC the story of the book report is from Jason Sudeikis' own childhood.

This episode is such a heart-wrencher. Ted saying he wished he had told his dad he was a good father kills me, so much guilt channeled into becoming a force of kindness and compassion in the world. However, I don't think Rebecca's mom's advice about Rupert actually works here because Rebecca WAS been perfectly friendly towards him from the beginning. At the auction for charity, she was professional and complimentary towards him even though he'd ruined her planned entertainment. She was cordial when they unexpectedly met when Bex acquired the Milk sisters' club shares. And when he specifically went to tell her about Bex being pregnant, she didn't even lash out at him then despite it being an extremely cruel thing for him to do and her being incredibly hurt by it. So where's this supposed lack of nice-ness to his face? Rebecca can't help having been hurt when he specifically goes out of his way to hurt her & THAT"S what he actually thrives on. But being hurt is not a conscious choice on her part, and him gradually having less and less of an impact on her is just a process that happens naturally which she can't control either.

I personally enjoyed the Beardisode, but I love those kinds of bottle episodes that really dive into a character like that; plus the trio of pub guys are some of my favorites. To each their own, but I was surprised when I watched it because I’d heard it wasn’t good.

Oh, man..now I gotta go find that Funko POP. Oddly enough, the only ones I have are of members of the US Women's National Team. Maybe not so odd after all..I like football, I like women, "..why not both?" 🤣 And yeah, one of my favorite episodes. All those cut-scenes between Rebecca talking to her mom and Ted talking to Dr. Sharon are * amazing *. Oh, and the whole thing about Sassy v. Rupert. "..I'll wear red, and be a beacon of joy to the other three people there.." Loved it. Me and the friends I watched it with are still equally split on "..holy shit, he raped her!" and "..no, she just hates what he did to her best friend!" Jamie helping Danny through a day with 'dress shoes' was a wonderful sub-plot. "They're not made for us.." And the most epic "Rick Roll" I've ever seen, of course. And listen to your other subscribers about "Four Weddings and a Funeral" (1994), the title of this episode is a tribute to that rom-com film. And we all know Ted believes in 'rom-communism'. 😉
